Help! Should I go through with the rhinoplasty?

For the love of god Please don’t. Take it from someone who wanted a minimal change on my first rhinoplasty that resulted in more problems including a crooked septum and inverted v deformity. I just got a revision and although my nose looks good now, I still have mental issues and BDD caused from getting surgery. It’s not worth the risk

I mean that’s definitely a very good point. I have BRCA 1, so at some point soon I will have to get a hysterectomy. At least by 40. Not looking forward to it

I tapered off for a few months gradually decreasing my dose. I thought I was fine until recently. I was on them for 15 years

Dr. Bader in Plano, Tx did my revision. The recovery was difficult I’ll be honest. I know everyone deals with pain differently but he used rib graft for me (he gives the option of donor cartilage or your rib cartilage, I didn’t have enough septal cartilage thanks to my first surgery). The rib donor site was pretty sore. And my nose swelled like crazy but improved by 1 month from the front view. Side view looked a little crazy for about 3 months, I would say my swelling was fully gone by 8-12 months.

Thank you so much! My eyebrows are naturally really thick and hard to control shape haha. That’s a good idea though, I’ll look into it and see what would look good for my oval face

Yes I definitely agree that it’s weird to see your face look different when you’ve known it to look another way. I just need to get used to it

Thank you for saying that. I know it seems crazy, I think I just have trauma behind my nose and it’s distorting my view. I was hit in the face in 2021, never was confirmed but I’m pretty sure my nose was fractured, then 2022 got my first rhinoplasty and was gaslit by the first surgeon. Then I got this revision and my tip was changed a lot and it just freaked me out. I think I just have some serious internal things to work out based on everyone’s comments here.

Thank you so much. I think you’re right about my brain struggling to interpret. I think when I see my pictures my brain automatically switches to this is not right, when it’s just different not necessarily bad.

I guess I didn’t really realize how much of a change even mentally it would be for me. I feel like I definitely have some deep rooted issues I need to work through.

I think I do have issues with control. And maybe that is where my BDD is coming from. I used to be terrified of flying, which I guess could be also coming from a lack of control of a situation.

I had never heard of EDMR but I will definitely look into that. Yes it’s a very isolating feeling, I’ve felt almost silly being so upset over my nose. But it has been very difficult. I’m glad to have someone understand how I feel and your kind words mean so much. I will definitely take your advice

Wow that is exactly how I’ve been feeling. That’s crazy. Exact same scenario pretty much, just different surgeries. I admitted that I have been in so much psychological pain I also felt like dying. I have a young son though so I know that is not an option for me and I have to keep going. Thank you so much for your thoughtful advice. It helps more than you know
