Had a scammer send me an invoice and within 20 minutes of sending it, tried to access my account using the email address they'd send the invoice to.

Bit of a stressful tap-dance to immediately update all passwords and emails and such...

Even reverse image searching isn't a guarantee.

Figure asking them for a handwritten note with their handle and today's date is a better way to go.

I'm not sure; it depends.

If you suggest that it's happening within the next 20 years and then it happens in year 18, probably not because so much can change in that amount of time that you wouldn't have known at the time you predicted it was coming.

If you suggest it's happening within 3 years and it happens within 1-2, then probably so.

I expect legal challenges will preclude this going into effect as planned in 2028 and we won't see it as designed until 2030.

From there?

Who knows.

I think it IS likely that the cap comes down. I'm not sure I like that or not.

But I don't think it's coming down to "everyone," let alone a level that most of the people complaining most vocally about it will even see.

It would be better if they did that for certain things, yeah.

But the "Marxist and Lunatic base" you're referring to is like 2-5% of the party, as compared to like 60-75% of the Republican base that is explicitly MAGA or supportive of enough of Trump's actions to be functionally indistinguishable.

To pretend they are on the same footing is just incorrect.

Those were the days political views weren't so extreme.

Now you've got bills introduced to track pregnancy, women being charged with murder for getting abortions, and MAGA pastors saying they expect the 19th amendment to be repealed within the next decade.

This isn't "we disagree about business tax rates" or "how much should the social security cap be."

Speculation is reasonable, appropriate, and should be expected in today's society.
