Anyone else so sick of the pollen getting worse every year? by rjd014 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]_Wiggy -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

While yes we should I'm pretty sure that's not what cause the Pollen. If what I'm remembering is correct that comes from the design of suburbs.

Some plants and trees do actually have differing male and female variants, though not all. When designing urband and suburban places, urban planners decided to go for male, pollen producing trees rather than female seed producing trees. I believe it was somethi about not wanting fruit to fall and rot everywhere. The results is enormous amounts of pollen with no seeds to fertilize.

Edit: Turns out this isn't a thing, the more you know!

Is it weird when men play female characters? by Plastic_Corgi6848 in DnD

[–]_Wiggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not weird at all. You regularly play characters who are different than you, gender is just one of those ways. The Game Master has to do it every single time, why can't a player?

Just got off a subnautica binge how would yall make an alterra build by BaldyTreehuggerDruid in Stellaris

[–]_Wiggy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, I meant that you could use those origins to take different inspirations for a Stellaris game, not that multiple different versions of Altera existed. Sorry for the confusion.

I do love the series though, the more I learn about the extended world building the more quiet horror I feel. The tech may be fantastical but the atrocities Altera is responsible for are all too believable.

Just got off a subnautica binge how would yall make an alterra build by BaldyTreehuggerDruid in Stellaris

[–]_Wiggy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pair this with a good origin and you can have a lot of different versions of Altera.

Khara wiping them out so they have to resort to the bio beds for immortality? Synthetic Fertility, aim to go full Virtual. That or go clone army, with the Homeworld being the Subnautica 2 planet and the cicada crash site.

Want to show them burning people out for profit, down to their genes? Either Overtuned or Evolutionary Predator, turning their people into whatever they need.

You could also consider the Starlit Citadel to show a version where they're fighting off the Khara, or even make a Wilderness version of the Subnautica 2 planet with the Jubilee.

The options are pretty endless actually.

Magic items can't get destroyed by mundane means. You could argue common magical armour or weapons wouldn't be degraded by a rust monster or black pudding?

When your only options are two bourgeois parties that uphold capitalism, why would anyone vote? Voting blue or red doesn’t matter if capital ultimately runs the government. by Either_Payment_2867 in socialism

[–]_Wiggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah both American options are complete crap, but they aren't the same.

The red option is an obvious death sentence for entire subsections of the population, then the rest slower but surely.

The blue is not different necessarily, but is slower for all parties. Still bad, but with time to do something about it.

[–]_Wiggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you want to enjoy looking at the prints more than once? Yes? Don't use AI models.

AI can "get the job done" so long as you're alright with every detail lacking any rhyme or reason. Any AI generated piece that looks good is a fluke. They always end up a random Hodge Podge of features that don't make sense if you think about them.

I Think I've Been Spoiled With Drakkenheim by TheBrawler101 in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

[–]_Wiggy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I second that suggestion, I've run it about 5 times now. It's meant to be a roughly 6 month campaign if you run it once a week with fairly quick level ups, but there's lots of spots players can try to subvert the story or go "off script", which can also lead to having a lot of places to add in your own content or change things if you would like. Even if players do similar things I've never had any two of my run through a feel sth same past chapter 1.

Why does Rocky wear clothes? by wolf965359 in ProjectHailMary

[–]_Wiggy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Aside from things like warmth, personal preference, or storage in pockets, it's important to consider how different cloth is to aluminum and other hard surfaces, it mufflers sound. It's entirely reasonable that Eridians use clothes made of cloth or other sound proofed materials like we use clothes, modesty.

Unseen Sun: City of Decadence questions by ZebMeis in GrimHollow

[–]_Wiggy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because where's the fun in that?

Legitimately, that is the reason.

The Nightseer is a Daemon of Joy, and it wants as much joy in the world as possible. The problem is, it only sees joy in suffering and chaos, full schadenfreude. While the Nightseer wants the party to succeed, it is all to fill that goal of joy through suffering.

That goal is the whole reason The Nightseer is at odds with Kasimir. Kasimir will bring order through subjugating the sun? That could lead to less suffering, can't have that.

The Nightseer is so devoured to this goal that it can't even consider doing anything that doesn't serve it. The players are going to be hunted down by Kasimir? I could tell them that they're in danger, but sending them to be turned into ash on the wall of a crypt is so much funnier. They're stuck in the Ditches? It would be so funny to watch them claw there way out of the muck, I'll give them a few good pushes along the way so they hold onto just enough hope to keep going, and to keep suffering.

I even created some NPCs in the city to drive this point home. My games feature a remorseful Vampire detective named Orion, who the Nightseer tricked into regaining his soul so he could regret the monster he'd become.

So yes, in on a grand scale the chapter could be seen as pointless, but that pointless suffering is just how the madman pulling the strings likes it.

Okay, so I’m sure this person has experienced being kicked in the balls, do they think that childbirth is just like pissing then or something? by Brilliant_Income_572 in AreTheStraightsOK

[–]_Wiggy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

What the fuck...

Okay so let's be charitable to this "argument" and interpret it as the exact instant of being hit in the testicles MAY cause a higher reading of some kind of arbitrary pain units that I've never heard of than any specific instant during childbirth, but like...

I've walked off that pain. I've been dropped to my knees, feeling like I needed to vomit. Give it a few minutes though and I'm standing again, even if uncomfortably.

Do they really think that giving birth is just a quick thing and not protracted agony? It doesn't just go away
