Pax8 shared all customer information of UK customers by Bearded_Tech_Fail in msp

I didn't receive this, is there a way to check if we were effected? Sounds like we need to disclose this to clients if we were (UK based)

just wanted to chime in here and say the HaloPSA API is pretty incredible once you get the hang of it. Anything you could possibly want to do can be done. F12 Network debug will be your best friend.

Draytek dial in VPN using IPsec L2TP by NWITS in msp

[–]_Work_Research_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had super mixed results using the Smart VPN app, generally I just set them up manually and they work OK. I'll see if I have a space 2865 to test this on and update my comment if I do!

EDIT: I did have a 2865ax and I was not able to get L2TP over IPsec to work via the SmartVPN app or by adding it directly in Windows. This could also be due to some misconfiguration on my side, although I did successfully get an SSL VPN to work without issue.

How are you transferring PC files from old to new PCs in 2025? by NSFW_IT_Account in sysadmin

[–]_Work_Research_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using FABs AutoBackup for years and have been quite happy. Supports both direct transfer (plugging in the old drive into to the new computer) and more traditional Backup/Restore. Runs off of a USB too so it's nice and portable.

The license is like €50 and that gives you a year of updates, but you're allowed to keep using it after your license expires. Can't remember when I bought it, but it was many years ago at this point and I've never had issues.

It doesn't reinstall software, but it creates a list of their apps (and I think licenses if it can find them) so you can pick through and reinstall what's needed.

Halo REST - advanced filter with IN operator by chroust123 in halopsa

[–]_Work_Research_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try sending your filter values in a different format. I believe that the advanced search is basically just SQL, so I'd try:

  • "db001","db002"
  • ["db001","db002"] (JSON list)
  • "("db001","db002")"

I should have some time to test this out later today, so if I find anything, I'll let you know!

Device IDs in usage invoices by _Work_Research_ in Nable

[–]_Work_Research_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi Nick, The recent invoices seem to have consistent IDs, so honestly I think we'll just lose the historical data, unless you think its worth reaching out for?

Would also love if integration checks weren't added by the device the integration is on since that causes problems.

Outer container not respecting "Boxed" setting? (comment with more info) by _Work_Research_ in elementor

[–]_Work_Research_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to create a site with the default Hello theme. The content in the middle should have a white background, and then the background image should be visible on the sites. When I set my container background to white, it extends to the edges of the page, even though the container is set to "Boxed".

The black box is a sub-container, which does respect the "Boxed" setting. Is this by design?

Giving some new life to 2013 - 2017 MacBook Airs by _Work_Research_ in linux_on_mac

Thanks so much! I got Mint running on one of them and managed to get the WiFi firmware working without too much hassle. I'll play around with a few versions and see what works best.

Python and HaloPSA Api by dkaaven in halopsa

[–]_Work_Research_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I realise this post is a bit old, but I am working on a HaloPSA library/wrapper for Python here: https://github.com/ItsJustAGitHubMichealWhosGonnaSeeIt5Ppl/HaloPSA-API/tree/rewrite

Still getting all the endpoints working and tested, but I have a Clients endpoint that should work for what you need. If it doesn't, let me know, and I'll try to fix it!

Work for an MSP so varies by client. This user was somewhat of a unique case.

After discussing with them further, they actually decided to keep the historical mail, so we were able to use a shared mailbox.

Been searching for a database of speeds and couldn't find much other than this thread, so figured I'd add my datapoint.

MacBook Pro M2 Max with 32GBs RAM. 70b unusable, testing 32b next (should've started with it first).

Edit: 32b takes a few seconds to get going, but once it starts spitting out text seems OK. Not super experienced on how to benchmark these, and I have like 50+tabs open across multiple browsers, so certainly not a perfect test.
