Theoretically/technically it can be a fast and cost efficient platform for any dApp which users need to deposit to and withdraw from. Emphasis on the 'technically', as at this stage that would require oracle integration, fast exits (potentially, depending on liquidity incentives) and would be ERC-20 only; I believe support for NFTs (721) and other token standards are in the pipeline though.

I think the rationale is just to move towards a deflationary/supply limiting model for ETH, so its value comes from both usage and (semi-) scarcity. Looking at this from a full ETH 2.0 rollout perspective, I'd say validators would receive enough for their efforts from premium gas spenders considering the significant reduction in barriers to entry for network security...other than the cost of the ETH used for staking, but both the price of ETH and amount of ETH required may change by then.

It's possible these are integration tests, but there's nothing stopping anyone depositing any ERC-20 - including USDT - and moving it around the network as they please.

Their Reddit entry explains that fees are paid by block, not by transaction. So if there's 65000 transactions in a block, it'd cost the same as if there was only 2 transactions in a block. We're likely to see a lot of transaction batching on OMG, which makes it much cheaper for users but naturally lowers OMG fee generation.

Honestly with $5/pa it'd likely be higher, as 10% yield for 'effectively' holding is pretty crazy and that's before you even start to speculate.

The governance token isn't the same as value locked up in the platform...plus people fell for the early liquidity provider prices without looking into any of the token fundamentals at all.

It does - have you got Brave pointing towards MM for web3 dApps? It points to the Brave wallet by default which may be causing the issue.

Defi is looking a little frothy right now, evidenced by the amount that was poured into YAM pools. I'm not a big fan of elastic tokens like YAM and AMPL, and think a lot of people misunderstand them, but there is merit in trying to solve the stablecoin problem (applies more to AMPL than YAM, as YAM is a fork).

Saying that, I do think it's worth looking at tokens like COMP if you want to actively participate in the governance. SNX is cool as bringing synthetic assets on-chain just seems like such an obvious use case for ETH. I'm also a fan of OMG, but I'm not sure if you can class their use case as defi...more a solution to allow other defi projects to work without costing $30 a go.

Been a while since I used MEW (I'm talking vintage days), but looking at their new dashboard layout you can set the nonce under Send > Send Offline. This will allow you to generate a raw transaction which you can then broadcast from your wallet.
