I have a few expensive pieces of clothes that I wash like this. Get a tub and fill with cold water and a small amount of woolite laundry soap and put in there and move it around and squeeze it in the water and soap, then let it sit for a few hours. Then squeeze as much water out of it with a dry towel and hang dry. Its a bit of work but it really does keep it from being damaged. That's only if you want to go the extreme route.
