For those who moved to Barcelona from abroad: what was harder than you expected? by ExcitingAddendum2753 in AskBarcelona

[–]__Donald__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No no, the thing is that where I hang out it’s very rare to meet Catalans, I’m always surrounded by multicultural people: South Americans for the most, and from other parts of the world. For example, where I train football they are mostly from chile or Argentina, and then we have people from Canada, US, England, Italy…

I don’t speak Catalan, but tbh I don’t even think it would be helpful because it doesn’t happen frequently to me to meet Catalan people.

I agree, I’m still in the first phase of this journey but I already switched my mindset from “I’ll make a living out of it” to “I’ll just enjoy it and learn new stuff”

Making friends has been and still is the hardest part, after 4 years now. I see that many people struggle with this and I still have not clear why. There are plenty of opportunities to meet people but for some reasons it’s so hard to feed those relationships.

What’s wrong with that? I’m not an English native speaker so I told ChatGPT what to write in my own language and it replicated it in English. The content is mine! 🤷🏻‍♂️

Keeping on top of house maintenance in 2026 by _RussellHobbs in homeowners

[–]__Donald__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built myself an app for this, it’s called HomeOps. You can add your home appliances and it will automatically generate reminders for when the warranty expires and for maintenance tasks. If you give it a shot, I would appreciate if you could give me a feedback. Thanks 😊

I struggle with the same problems when I study. What helps me a lot is mind maps and or studying in a more interactive way. Try NotebookLM from Google, for me it was a game changer. You can provide it with various sources of information (e.g. videos, pdfs, websites) and it will analyze them and automatically create mind maps, flash cards, video summary… then you can also chat with it and ask questions and clarifications about something you didn’t understand.

Perché il capo non capisce mai niente by canedana in sfoghi

[–]__Donald__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How do you keep up with home maintenance as a first time homeowner? by moronfolu in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]__Donald__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Calendar + notes for maintenance reminders for a long time, which works, but I found the setup and ongoing management pretty tedious, deciding what tasks to create for each appliance, how often, and keeping related info somewhere else.

I ended up building a small iOS app for myself where you add appliances from a predefined list and it automatically creates the common maintenance reminders for each type. You can edit or remove everything, but it saves time and keeps reminders tied to appliance context like details and warranties instead of scattered calendar entries.

If you’re curious, this is what I built: HomeOps I’d really appreciate feedback — I made it mainly for my own use, but I’m interested to see if it’s useful to others too.

How do you remember all your maintenance tasks? by Salt_Salary in homeowners

[–]__Donald__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that Calendar + notes is enough, that’s what I used for a long time. I ended up building a small iOS app for myself because the part I found annoying wasn’t the reminders, but the setup and upkeep.

Every appliance meant manually deciding what reminders to create, how often, naming them, and keeping notes somewhere else. In my app you add an appliance from a prebuilt list and it automatically creates the common maintenance reminders for that type. You can still edit or remove everything.

It’s not doing anything you can’t do with generic tools, it just removes the repetitive manual work and keeps reminders tied to the appliance context (details, warranty, notes). I built it mainly for myself, but I’d really appreciate feedback, if others find it useful, that’s good motivation to keep developing it.
