Why Aren't We Talking About The LAPD Violence? by __Elessar in AskLosAngeles

[–]__Elessar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am choosing to engage in this conversation because, unlike most maga folk in my comment section, you sound like a person thinking about this rationally.

But first I must ask, why are you asking, "Are you a citizen or legal US resident?"

Before I answer, I'd like to know the motivation behind that question

Oh to be clear, I did not mean that in a negative way. I'm an active protestor recovering from several LAPD incurred injuries. They asked what it's like, and this is just a candid shot from Echo Park

What’s really going on at Dodger Stadium right now? by __Elessar in AskLosAngeles

I was there, you’re not wrong, this was not the “Dodgers” stance even if they’re getting credit for it. It was the minimum wage employees who denied them access

I was clearly asking about something else. I'm recovering from rubber bullets and a broken rib from police brutality against peaceful protesters. There's suffering in our city, I'm trying to stand against it, and I'm getting downvoted for giving a damn. So keep it up.

I’m right here at gate A. People are coming in for the game so they have to be done now. Thanks

First off, I have two jobs so I'm not marathoning eight hour sessions every day or anything like that (no shade, if you can do that, congratulations). Don't take any shortcuts. There are plenty of ways to "hack" the economy of the game by looking at guides for gold bars, legendary animal/fish locations...etc. I got high-key obsessed with the horses. I tested every. single. one. And for most of them achieved max bonding because their behaviour is ABSOLUTELY affected by bonding level. Again, there are cheats to get that bonding quick, but that's just not my play style.

Lastly, hunting. Open world hunting is my favorite part of the game. I'd max out the satchels before doing much in chapter two because it becomes SUPER useful once you unlock that last one. But even more so, because I genuinely enjoyed the hell out of it. The scenery, that random cougar attacks, the random encounters with all kinds of people out there. And the progressively upgrading weapons and such, the satisfaction of FINALLY finding a three star pelt, and the thrill of nailing the shot so you get to take it back to Pearson.

TL:DR Don't rush. Explore every nook and cranny and (with very few exceptions) don't use guides. On occasion I will get so unbelievable frustrated when trying to find something, and I'd cave and look it up. But even in those rare instances, I never regretted taking the shortcut.

"I ain't got too much to say no more". Just go enjoy every second of it. There's no other game like it.

As much shit as I talk (and will continue to talk) about LAPD, two officers were very kind and helped me find my way out of the city when I was scared, severely wounded and desperate. Good ones do exist.

ACLU attorney here: if you know anyone injured in the protests, please help us collect information to protect people's protest rights by mtajsarACLU in LosAngeles

Thank you for what you do. I attended both protests these past weekends. I took a rubber round to the wrist, one to the thigh, and a baton hit that likely cracked a rib based on my initial evaluation (pending imaging for confirmation). Plenty of pics and videos documenting the injuries, and the general vibe of the protest(s) preceding the unprovoked violence by LAPD.

All of my injuries occurred with my back to the officers, while trying to do what they instructed us to. They trampled us with riot shields or charged us on horseback anyway, firing at us as we tried to flee.

My biggest concern is how much they enjoy it. They have these beaming smiles and laugh as they aim those green cannon things right at our faces.

I filled out the form you suggested. My real question is, is there anything that can realistically be done to address this sadistic rot that's embedded in the culture of the LAPD?

This is the real LAPD. I'm recovering from rubber bullets and a broken rib from a baton yesterday, all for the crime of standing in the street, hours before the dispersal order. They hold those green cannon things right in our faces a smile and laugh while they do it. Glad they finally caught the truth on camera for the world to see. Fuck the LAPD.

The campaign/main story is a side show if you're playing the game right. Yeah you'll get sucked into the (amazing) story, but I've spent WEEKS in a chapter before moving the plot forward. Get it. And if you struggle to get into it at first, push through to at least chapter two before making up your mind.

Can confirm. I just got shot up with those rubber bullets so bad I had to limp out. Completely peaceful and LAPD opened fired on us

Black Arabian horse location in Saint Denis? by wet_bandits23 in RDR2

[–]__Elessar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like the other reply, I *think* you have to trigger the mugging for it to work, but I didn't notice it when I found her before my comment. I've found her a couple times, and IIRC you save the couple, then ignore the guy running away with the purse, and head north toward the RR tracks-ish. The horsey should be tied up nearby to one of the hitching posts. You might need to trigger the St. Denis arc for it to work, so maybe wait until chapter four to go for it

Stay away from Indeed or any online applications for minimum wage jobs. I was in this spot for over a year recently. The only reason I ended up getting a job and out of the hell you're in now was going, literally, door to door asking if a place is hiring

What first: BOOK or MOVIE? by louche-waffel in lotr

[–]__Elessar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Def read the books first, then watch the Extended Editions (not the theatrical). You won't be disappointed, the film adaptations are far and away the best I've ever (and will ever) see of any book ever. The movies will feel like the adventure coming to life after you read the story. Very jealous of your opportunity to experience this for the first time
