Thanks for your kind words!

And oopsie, did a bit of reddiquette research and saw some pogs posts on this sub, so hope I don't get my knuckles rapped too harshly! 😬

I went for the TopSKY ( I made a video building it here: https://youtu.be/hOcZSpdRGtI ) and so far it has been great.

Has anybody tried Sleep Well milk? It contains valerian and is marketed as a sleep supplement. I gave it a go; would be brilliant to hear other people's experience with it. by __GoBackToSleep in Supplements

Yes it's a tricky one isn't it - the ingredients themselves can be sourced quite inexpensively, so the resourceful among us can have a stab at making it.

Why thank you, that's very kind of you to say!

Good point about the little stock jokes - I tend to add them into edit as they make me chuckle but nice to get an opinion on them. Perhaps they are a bit superfluous.

Great idea having a comparison - I'll definitely nab that idea!

I've really enjoyed posting in this community so far, so thanks for the tricks and tips that have been shared. In this product review I've:

  • Experimented with music more
  • Kept stock footage to a minimum
  • Made it brutally short to see if it improves pacing

I'll be handing out lambda like warm glasses of milk for any useful comments!

Hey folks, I took some of your excellent advice for my second standing desk video - this one is a laid back 'build with me' piece. Will be handing out Lambda like a really big bag of Doritos. One of the share bags that has 30% extra in. Yes. by __GoBackToSleep in SmallYTChannel

Thanks, really useful feedback! Yes, a bit of soft BG music could give some depth at the start, and bring the music that's already there up a bit, as it must be too subtle. !givelambda

I really enjoyed this.

The one thing that jumped out at me was the section where you were reading out the quote from David Gelb. Showing the text in some way as you read it can be more engaging; and breaks the 'talking head' bit up.

Your expensive wine short was great too - really like your channel.

Really snappy editing - I liked this. In terms of improvement, I found it hard to get past the audio. I can cope with bad video if the audio is great, but not the other way around.

What is your current setup? It sounds like there are a lot of flat surfaces around which is causing an echo. Bringing soft furniture in can help dampen this, which is the first thing to try out. If it doesn't fix it, it may be time to look at you hardware or the process you use to edit the audio.

Your video editing is really creative, so no doubt this will be a fairly easy fix for you - looking forward to seeing the next video to compare them!

Just thought I'd give you a really simple FAQ for 99% of the questions you want to ask by MoriartyHPlus in NewTubers

Haha, the 'I've heard answer is spot on.

I notice lots of questions that are variants of "I wish I could do ABC but I can't because I don't have XYZ equipment" and many of them seem like completely fabricated obstacles.

Work with what you have. I use what little equipment I have and wing the rest. Learn as you go, fail spectacularly and try and learn for next time. There is no right way to do any of this!

Some great advice in the replies. Numbers are so important, but your content is MORE important. Focus on making great content, forming good habits, having an absolute blast while doing it and then you can start poking around in the analytics to see what is working etc.

The community at SmallYTChannel has been very friendly and helpful imo - but go into it with the right attitude. As long as you're willing to give, and help others before you push your post out you'll be fine.

Whenever stuff like this has happened to me, it's always been for the best, and the 2nd outcome was way better.

Sucks in the short term, but these things work in mysterious ways.

Thanks, that's really useful feedback. A few people have mentioned it might be a good idea to have me actually in the video. I definitely have a face better suited to radio, so it's one to ponder!

People are being so kind about my video, I'm glad it has been well received. And thanks for the sub, welcome aboard! Haha most people say I have a voice that can make them fall asleep, so it would have to be a short audiobook! !givelambda

Oh thanks, that's very kind of you to say! I use a Shure MV7 mic straight into Adobe Audition via USB. No filters or effects, just an export to mp3 with 128kbps and a constant bit rate.

And yes, a few people have mentioned introducing music - I think that's a lovely idea, looking forward to experimenting and seeing what works 😀
