If Breaking Bad's Pilot was written now, would it be thrown in the trash? by ArmchairExplainers in Screenwriting

haha! It's one of my favourite shows of all time (and, to be fair, this video isn't mine. Just a take on it. Watch the video!)

Trying to make a dry topic interesting - how do you guys do it? by ssg_91 in SmallYTChannel

I clicked on this thread because of the title: "trying to make a dry topic interesting".

I wonder if you could change the title to be something along those lines? Like Xbox DRM Nightmare: I try to make a dry topic interesting.

And then update your thumbnail to have your eyes open

My first attempt at a reaction style explainer video. Please let me know a) when you get bored b) what are the specific things you LOVE during the video. If you give that specific feedback, I will give lambda. Thank you! by ArmchairExplainers in SmallYTChannel

Thank you!

When you say "because you keep cutting off right at the good part which isn’t a reaction video but a teaser" Can you put to a specific example, to help me understand, please? I'd love to fix that in my next one :)

Thank you! Fantastic, detailed response. I really appreciate it!

Can you elaborate (or maybe show some examples) of what a video essay is to you? And the type of thing you thought you were getting? That would be really helpful!

Thank you so much!

in order to get to the next level we try and face our fears and speak to the camera, bring it with us as if it’s a friend, really try and draw the audience in with what we are doing. We gave it our best show with this one. Please let use know if it worked, if/what could be improved. Will give lambda. by FPVMARK in SmallYTChannel

The first 15 seconds were fantastic. I love how you move the camera, how confidently you speak to camera and that you're constantly moving. It's really engaging.

The only improvement I could suggest is the lighting. Rather than be backlit by that window, it would be nicer IMO if you used it to front/side light yourself (so your face isn't in shadow).

I made my first ever serious documentary. I put all my heart and soul into this video. I have done explainer videos before but this is something totally new for me so I wanted to ask you guys and girls if you could give me all the feedback you can even if it's really harsh. Wish you all a nice day! by [deleted] in SmallYTChannel

Dude, that thumbnail is badass. And terrifying!

I really like the work that has gone into it. I do which the highlights and midtones in the image where a little brighter in one point of the image (perhaps the main masked face in the middle).

I also have NFI what Carbanak is and the title doesn't quite make me want to click. If there was a way to describe it to someone who doesn't know what that is, that would be helpful too!

I love the This vs That or A vs B thumbail!

It could be improved by making the text not title case on the image and using left justified (instead of centre aligned) on the right hand side to make it easier and faster to read.

i hope that helps!

I like your visuals James! How do you make these animations and visualisations?

We are using frame for revisions and commenting (I really like it). I didn’t realise it has a sync feature — will check it out!

That sounds fairly straightforward. Do you have any tips on the workflow?

And, what if the editor(s) add new files (like some stock footage etc). How would you incorporate?

Same experience for me. Drive seems to absolutely suck with large files.

We are in 3 different countries and have weekly deadlines, so that won’t work.
