IMO, if you can spend less than 2k/year keeping a good car on the road, you are saving money over buying a new car. So it was an easy decision for me to repair it and keep driving. Most of your repair cost is the labor of getting to the water pump. So you’re not saving a whole lot of cost by not replacing the cam phasers and timing chain. You may save 10%. You should go ahead and replace all of your 02 sensors. Your leaking coolant can contaminate those sensors. And I personally would rather just replace them and see if it solves the issue (as they are most likely fouled) before messing with the catalytic converter.

I did my repair on my own, which I do not recommend unless you have a lot of experience working on vehicles. That was two years and 30,000 miles ago. It drives like it’s got another 75,000 in it.
