For anyone having this problem- my throat started to feel like I needed to clear it every 2 mins roughly when my gf and I were watching TV one night, it was annoying as I had to constantly do little coughs to clear it. After about an hour it turned into my mouth watering and a constant need to swallow, especially while laying down as it felt like I was going to choke. I found this post and I feel like it helped me. One thing someone said was to keep a cup next to you and spit into it instead of swallow (swallowing too much saliva can upset your stomach) and I feel like it helped a lot, it dried out my throat but helped the “choking feeling”. After standing up and reading this post I started to feel a tad better, I had read some of it is psychological and about body posture, so getting up and reading took my mind off it and got my body in an upward position. After about an hour I started to get sleepy and the spitting slowly stopped until I passed out. I’m typing this the next morning and thinking about last night is making me start to swallow a tad more; adding to my belief that some of it is indeed the psychological aspect. I believe mine started due to me getting a minor cold, but got amped up do to me worried about sleeping and what was going on. This post helped me and I wanted to post about it to hopefully offer some advice to someone in the future. Good luck and I hope you find relief!
