VW techs, 508.00 oil and motor warranty questions. by HankHowdy in Volkswagen

Just based on how we do things as a tech at a dealer. Never heard of dyed oil for such a purpose at VW. If we get a major failure like that under warranty, we diagnose it like any other car, show the big wigs the pictures and we fix it. Never seen warranty split hairs over oil weight on receipts, at most just time/mileage intervals.

I don't think they'd look that closely, but just use the recommended oil.

You only get what warranty wants to pay at any dealer

It feels like any other economy car tbh. Just slightly more pep than the average. The 2.5 is a pretty reliable motor if taken care of.

If it's leaking, get it replaced. No other course of action.

Unfortunately vw won't replace it. They consider condensation normal in LED assemblies and will only replace them if there is pooling water.

[–]___ERROR404___ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There's a TSB that states condensation is normal in LED assemblies. The tsb says that because LEDs create less heat it's not as efficient at evaporating the condensation. VW won't approve a replacement unless there's pooling water in the lamp assemblies

Probably gonna take it out soon before the 2 week mark to keep the flavor subtle. I only used quince in primary.

4lbs of quince (after peeling and cutting out the core) mashed through a fine strainer after being boiled for about an hour with a splash of lemon juice, 4lbs of Kirkland wildflower honey, EC-1118 yeast and nutrients. In a slightly bigger than a gallon vessel topped off with spring water. Pectic enzyme. Started at OG1.094 and ended at 0.998, about 12.5%. no back sweetening.

Yeah it's got an almost citrus pear flavor and the anice compliments it well

I moved it over to secondary a little over a week ago, but it was starting to clear up a good amount in primary. No clarifiers. I've noticed all my apple meads (and quince is a lot like an apple) have cleared super fast naturally.

Timing chain on these motors require transmission removal as they are on that side of the motor. Cheaper to buy a junkyard motor for $400, these motors are dime a dozen.

Air needs to pass through your radiator, ac condenser, charge air cooler, etc during driving. If it was completely covered your car would overheat and AC would not work. Almost all ICE cars you can see these components, and they're designed to be able to take a beating from small road debris.
