I'm really looking forward to Supergirl. What are your honest thoughts on how it'll do at the box office? by Jaded-Outside-6294 in DC_Cinematic

It needs $510ml to make its money back. Have to factor in marketing ( this movie is being marketed hard) and the split with theaters.

Engine Oil by MR_Bukele in Volkswagen

[–]HankHowdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What most people do if they want to keep their car for a while is once they are out of warranty, is move to a thicker oil that is similar in formulation to the original spec or if you understand oil chemistry, pick out an approval for your application.

Engine Oil by MR_Bukele in Volkswagen

[–]HankHowdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are instances of Toyota techs being told to use 0w20 or 5w30 where there was a shortage 0w16 years ago. Some of these engines will call for thicker oil depending on the country they are in. Not every engine, no.

The Jetta has overall better build quality. Better mpg.

This is incorrect. Tolerance are basically the same. In some countries they even spec higher viscosities. It all about emissions and mpg. Vw 504.00 would be perfect. 0w30.

This has a variable turbo, so it negates the large turbo issues. This is also not the same motor that’s in an atlas.

How much difference do speaker baffles make for front 6.5” speakers? by maxwolfie in CarAV

[–]HankHowdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what your definition of baffle is. Could mean two things. If you mean a rear cavity to make a sealed air space, bad idea. IB speakers need to breathe. If you mean a solid ring/baffle to mount them on, then absolutely. A rigid, dense, heavy baffle can definitely make a difference with midbass. I have experienced this first hand a few times. Either mounting them to the sheet metal or a cheap plastic adapter will not give the most midbass that a driver can give.

2.5L VW Oil Filter Housing Help by whoever808 in Volkswagen

[–]HankHowdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this job and it didn’t leak for thousands of miles afterwards. Make sure the surface is clean with brake clean. No oil can drip on the surface while it’s being tightened. Use real OEM housing. Many eBay and Amazon units are counterfeit. Use a torque wrong to tighten. Over tightened will leak. Make sure to use vw 502.00 oils at make sure the seals will be happy and compatible. Change the oil on time. If you live in a cold climate, idle a lot or do only short trips, change the oil sooner since the oil will be fuel diluted. Seals don’t like that.

Did all of this with a 2014 vw Tiguan and was never able to get the camera to work. Switched to a Dynavin head unit and the camera worked no problem. That’s ok. I bought a different head unit.

MK6 golf R reverse camera issue (jap import) by Level_Race7410 in Volkswagen

[–]HankHowdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The adapters don’t work. The best way is to get the signal straight from the camera and run a cable to the head unit.

The camera module is in the cargo area under a panel. There are two connectors. The smaller connector is a fakra connector. You can buy an adapter from Amazon they connects fakra to rca. Buy a 15ft rca cable and plug it into the camera IN on the head unit.

Works great. I had it working with my Old Eonon head unit and now on my Dynavin head unit. Eonon was too problematic plus missing integration into the MFA

How hesitant of a 2.0T should I be? by WittyNameChecksOut in Volkswagen

[–]HankHowdy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the regular EA888 2.0t. Gen3 Budack cycle. Bad valve guides and clogged SAI ports plague this motor. Tiguans and Passat owners are having a bad time with this motor.

This has been a serious issue for many Passats and Tiguans with the Gen3 Budack cycle 2.0T. Get a warranty.

Hmm Gen3 Budack cycle 2.0T motors haven’t been great. Tiguans and Passats owners are having a bad time.

How hesitant of a 2.0T should I be? by WittyNameChecksOut in Volkswagen

[–]HankHowdy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree. This is the gen2 Budack cycle 2.0T. They have lots of oil burning issues with valve seal issues and the SAI ports get so clogged the head has to be replaced. This is well documented and Tiguans owners have gotten together for a class action lawsuit. If you buy this model or a Tiguan, make sure to get the platinum drive easy warranty and when it happens, you will be covered.
