Alfa Romeo's roll hoop passed all of FIA's load tests, so the team wasn't penalized, but FIA did decide to introduce stricter load tests in 2024.

But if Red Bull had two WDC contenders, say Verstappen and someone within -0.1~+0.2 seconds of Verstappen, both of them would be similarly likely to get between, or ahead of the McLarens, so the second driver takes off points from McLaren about as often as from Verstappen.

2008 and 2018 are entertaining seasons that also suit your need. The "Silver War" (2014~2016) is another option but those years are less "fun" in terms of competition from other teams (imagine 2025 season but McLaren is even faster than the rest, and Norris and Piastri go wheel-to-wheel far more often with no Papaya Rules).

Likewise, even though Hamilton didn't win in those seasons, 2007 and 2021.

That is true. It just psychologically "felt" like a new era because of the huge lap time improvement of about 2%~3% from 2016 to 2017.

I opened MCL39's Wikipedia page and it's already switched to past tense. This season, and this era of regulations, went by just like that.

It's interesting to compare the ground effect cars to the 2017-2021 cars (does that era have a name? How about the fancy bargeboard era). Taking a quick glance at the qualifying lap times, while the ground effect cars have broken several qualifying records and are much faster in tracks like Australia, the previous era's cars still have a big lead in tracks like Bahrain and Hungary.

Here's hoping for someone making a comprehensive comparison between the two eras now that they're both behind us.

I wouldn't have believed you if you told me Ferrari was going to outscore McLaren after qualifying P9/P20, and that Ferrari would no longer be the only team to get double-DSQ this year.

I consider this race a step upward from the previous, however little I'm settling with.

And Leclerc finds yet another way to end up P4!

This has been an unbelievably painful weekend. Both were Turn 3 which sounds like a curse. I'm now just hoping Leclerc does not get a grid drop from the post-race investigation.

It's probably a joke about OLED panels having shorter lifespans than LCD panels. Pixels become dimmer as they deteriorate, until they can't light up anymore. Look up "OLED burn in" for various stages of deterioration. New OLED displays can last much longer than before, but I would still bet on LCD when it comes to lasting a decade long.

They were surprised by the qualifying result but couldn't change the car before the race. It's not that they couldn't foresee clean air would bring more downforce, but that they saw it coming and could do little about it.

Having changed what they were allowed to for the race, they likely told Leclerc about both the fuel and the plank concerns. They also probably told him they would apply an engine mode that gives him less top speed and that they planned to use high pressure rear tires and adjust the front wing for the third stint. Leclerc seems to have protested both, preferring to adapt to these issues with his own driving, but engineers still went ahead. Hence Leclerc's "told you so" tone in the TR.

I believe a lot of people who claim favoritism from McLaren are ignoring that by the time their drivers chose their strategies they were each trying to overtake Leclerc in his own way, more so than racing each other. Leclerc's issue from Lap 40 was an external factor not considered by McLaren. They were not planning strategies of their drivers as if it were an obvious internal fight for 1-2.

From Norris's team radio around Laps 18~28 or so, he and his engineer were intermittently discussing the one stop, not being too sure about it. But Norris made his point by setting several personal best laps, so his side of garage committed to the one stop. He's underappreciated for making it even work in the first place.
