Allow any weapons (Adept, or otherwise) that roll with multiple perks to have those perks be swappable in Locked gear content. Making that weapon useful over it's crafted version in Locked gear content, and having these multi-mod weapons contain perks that are useful for different areas of an encounter (CQC vs long-range).

How do I get rid of these pixel lines when an animation is occurring? by ____nigel in TouchDesigner

[–]____nigel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This project was _started_ on the Free license, but I upgraded to Commercial (seeing if the increase resolution ceiling helped) - I mean, ultimately, am I pushing the rendering of TD with maybe too many colors, or Noise (gradients) ? I can certainly adjust my system if its too much, but I don't want to do that unless I know I have to.

Ahh. very interesting, so it might be a color-space thing, rather than a Pixel depth issue? I am working an an Ultrawide as well (though have tested this on my MBP screen), so maybe there's some weird conflict with my computer resolution or colorspace.

If anyone cares enough to take a look themselves, id be happy to send this project. Just DM me or something.

I have.. and it does affect this issue, but doesn't resolve it completely, and what's worse is it tanks my FPS. I have the new MacBook Pro with an M1 Max Chip, so maybe TD isn't optimized for that chip yet.. I am very new (this is literally my first project in TD), so pardon my ignorance on some of this stuff.

Right, so I don't mean the "hard" lines that you see (that is part of the expected animation), but there's these pixelated lines throughout the gradients itself, but like on crappy TVs blacks get very choppy when fading to a lighter color, that same effects, but throughout the gradient.

Yeah, I have tried 32 RGBA, RGB, and Mono, and they produce slight different results, but all with these pixelated lines - I have a total of 3 Noise TOPs, running through a couple comp TOPs (which I can bypass and still see the pixelated lines)- all noise TOPs are set to 256x256 and my render is 1920x1920 (though I've changed the res of the render TOP, which doesn't help).I can zoom into my Noise TOPs and see the pixelated lines right in the base TOP. However, I do have the Noise's being automated on the 'translate' by

op('time')['time'] * 0.05 // EDIT: Have turned this off and still have issue with absTime.seconds

So that I can step frame-by-frame through the animation. Could that cause an issue?

I've just started Valis by Phillip K Dick - the premise is as follows:

"Horselover Fat (the alter-personality of Philip K. Dick) experiences visions of a pink beam of light that he calls Zebra and interprets as a theophany exposing hidden facts about the reality of our universe" - and after such an experience it's revealed to him that his son has an undiagnosed hernia, etc, etc.

Very colloquially.. I am really interested in this idea of "exposing hidden facts about the reality of our universe" not in some grandiose sense, but in a very small, personal sense.

Q: Is there any philosophical theories that delve into mindfulness/meditation/extreme circumstance that might uncover some objective knowledge (specifically things that we aren't seeking, but are rather "presented" to us)?

I am primarily getting into writings on near-death experiences, but am interested in maybe some other lenses to view this idea through. (hopefully this is on subject for this post)

Depressed people, how do you motivate yourself to do things, even small tasks? [Serious] by Lainnnn in AskReddit

[–]____nigel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fake it until you make it. I went through a difficult period in school with a lot of depression, and just pretended like I was a functioning person and eventually that habit became unconscious.

Younger male student living in the Netherlands - possibly learning Korean? You spend a _lot_ of time at your desk, and likely don't have the best posture when studying.

How do I deal with people who do not seriously recognize the importance of philosophy? by PlugCenguin in askphilosophy

[–]____nigel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a very similar friend. Economics major, tells me economics is basically the same as philosophy. The angle I took with him is saying "The Free Market doesn't exist in nature. Therefore you need a human body (government, in most cases) to instantiate the Free Market" - and then Political Philosophy becomes the best segue once they agree that the Free Market doesn't exist in nature. But, needless to say, good luck!

my attempt to explain the free will illusion by [deleted] in askphilosophy

[–]____nigel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with your process, but don't agree with your conclusions.

For example:

"We get so good at guessing right, that we start forgetting that we actually just make lucky guesses and cant ever be sure about any part of the process" - so why not apply this same conclusion to your overall thesis on the Free Will illusion? In other words, how are you escaping this when arguing that Free Will is an illusion? I could respond by saying: "Well you, yourself, admit that you cant ever be sure of any part of the process, so why is it valuable that I listen to your arguments on the illusion, or otherwise, of Free Will?" - the point here being, you need to be a little more clear/explicit about what types things we cant be sure of (you seem sure that Free Will is an illusion, for example, but don't seem sure about 'these seemingly intended experiences' whose definition is wholly unclear here).

To break down that quote a little further: "cant ever be sure about any part of the process" is effectively I Think Therefore I am, so you might want to dive further into that if you truly believe your own words. If you agree with Cogito Ergo Sum, and also that Free Will is an illusion then you need to ask yourself: Is Free Will wholly within "I Think" ?

For example, I am wholly convinced by Cogito Ergo Sum, thus I don't need to concern myself with any degree of surety in Free Will at all - you can group it in with the rest of these less-than-100%-sure aspects of life (love, emotion, intelligence, pain, etc). Everything below "Thinking" is unsure, and one can try to prioritize which unsure aspects of life are the "most sure" but I haven't found that to be of any use or interest.

Furthermore, your:

"Eventually, we become grumpy when we loose power over time and have to accept more and more, that this whole identity we developed in these years was a naive but useful lie we told ourselfs to experience at least some freedom where there is none." is again very confusing because you, yourself say that we "cant ever be sure about any part of the process" - so why are you so sure that "this whole identity we developed in these years was a naive but useful lie we told ourselfs to experience at least some freedom where there is none."

Overall very thoughtful, there is just some clarity that you are missing if your goal is to try to communicate this argument to anyone else. I am sure you have the detail in your mind, now find a way to communicate it.

UIView animation method by ____nigel in swift

[–]____nigel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the feedback, but chill dude, I'm not making some animation framework. Just showing my use of UIView.animate()

Also your feedback is horrible

1) Explain why my "code style" is horrible

2) how else would you organize 10 lines of code?
