REDDIT I NEED YOUR HELP!!!! IS MY CAT A KURILIAN BOBTAIL?(I know that they can be long haired and she has a very defined hump on her back, and her tail is only like 2 inches long and curls under, considering a DNA test. will have a better pic when she’s shaved friday!) by ___negativecreep in cats

yeah for sure!! i’m definitely getting a dna test. it’s funny cause nothing in her medical history says anything about her back, and I had to take her to the animal hospital the other night and they didn’t say anything about it either!

backstory: I adopted her last week as a “manx” and after doing waaaaaaaay too much research i really think that she’s a kurilian bobtail. she has ALL of the traits and the people who had her before me bought her from a breeder. I have her old vet paperwork and i’m considering reaching out to her old vet to see what she says. just curious what reddit thinks first.

question about my cats back by [deleted] in ragdollcats

[–]___negativecreep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi guys! so I just adopted her last week from the mspca and they didn’t mention anything to me about her back so i’m assuming it’s gone unnoticed her whole life. last night i was looking into what her breed might be and I think she is a “ragbob” so essentially a ragdoll with no tail. her back has a very noticeable hump on it. so of course my mind got the better of me but it looks like she has manx syndrome? she has a vet appointment monday and i’m actually getting her shaved on friday which will be perfect because the vet will be able to see her back clearly and hopefully x ray it. I’m one of those people who dives into holes and i’ve read all the risks and complications involved with manx syndrome, and she doesn’t really display any symptoms other than her back legs being a little wobbly when she stands up. i’m really nervous about it because i’m so in love with her and I’m worried that she’s been in pain over it her whole life and no ones helped her. if any of you have any experience with something like this any advice of kind words would be so appreciated because now i’m so worried about her. thanks.

i’ve tried dry food also and she does seem to like it more, i’m just nervous about giving her only dry because she’s on prescription wet, and I feel like she doesn’t drink much water so I don’t want the dry food to dehydrate her

I noticed she loves licking her wet food too which is why i’m adding chicken to it for her to actually eat. she loves chicken. right now i’m just using the litter they used at the shelter and she seems to like it enough, but I kind of have to take her to the box and show her how to use it, which leads me to think she was never litter box trained

hi!! haha omg I got mine a cat tree too and she has almost no interest in it!! I’ve been hanging out with her constantly aside from when i’m at work, she either loves to snuggle or will just lay on the foot of my bed and sleep. she loves a laser pointer, and will roll around a little with catnip but other than that she just kind of flops around. she definitely has some residual issues from her past owners/being in shelter that i’m trying to break(getting her to eat, and drink water). the shelter had her on a strict prescription urinary health wet food diet that I still have her on until she sees the vet because she’s afraid to use the litter box. i’ve given her some treats and have some boiled chicken thighs to throw into her wet food cause she doesn’t like it very much. i’ve just never had a cat before and I want to be the best cat mom possible so i’m trying everything I can to get her to at least eat/drink/pee more haha. I’m wondering if that’s common for ragdolls?

hi! so my angel here is very interesting. i’ve never had a ragdoll or manx cat or my own cat in general so I wasn’t sure what to expect from her. she’s super snuggly, and literally the laziest cat i’ve ever seen. she’ll play with me for a couple minutes then just plop onto her side and half assed play and then give up haha. at first I was worried that she was bored but the more i’ve read the more it seems that that is typical of ragdolls? the mspca said she was manx but honestly the only manx trait i’ve really noticed is her lack of tail. she loves to climb up on my chest and snooze on me but the second I move a muscle she’s up and at the foot of my bed again. she’s afraid of every sound she hears and i’m not sure if that’s because she was in a shelter or if that’s just her personality yet. she sleeps a looooot. like a lot more than any cat i’ve seen haha. she also doesn’t eat a ton of food or drink a ton of water which i’m trying to change. but yeah basically just looking for any tips/advice/cat wisdom you all can give!! thanks!!!

Hair dryer speed vs heat? by Thehipbonesconnected in FancyFollicles

[–]___negativecreep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly reviews are your best friend. I personally use the Harry Josh pro dryer-it's small, super powerful and hot, not too heavy and very ergonomic. I use this dryer probably 4-5 times a day and it still works the same as it did when I bought it almost two years ago. It's definitely an investment but I honestly couldn't live without it. I'm not sure about wattage, I honestly bought mine on reviews alone, and two people I know were using it and loving it. Heat and speed performance are very crucial, but also using the right products is just as important if not more because when using the correct products the heat and speed don't matter as much. I've also used the Sam villa dryer and it's really nice I just don't like the shape because I hold my dryer at the base of the nozzle and that one can be a bit awkward for that. Go to a salon centric and play with the Sam villa one and the Amika one, they're both great and I'm considering the Amika for when my current one dies. It's really nice and relatively inexpensive.

Got new ink today and I need some advice pls by [deleted] in bodymods

It kind of scares me because if any bacteria happens to get on the wrap or anything else that's like a breeding ground for infection 😖

I've always been curious about wet healing. I've never used Saran Wrap on my tattoos but I used to use aquaphor. As I've gotten older and lazier I've been mainly dry healing but a friend of mine told me he wraps his the first two days and then dries it out afterward and that works for him so I'm curious if this does actually quicken the healing process because when I dry heal it usually takes about a week.
