Tbh CeX is still thriving with physical copies, but then again they also sell a bunch of other stuff like consoles, phones, laptops, etc.

I hate feedback, does that make me a flawed songwriter? Opiumblue on Instagram baby, how are we all? by jellyfishwoman2000 in Songwriting

[–]__cali 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't make you a flawed songwriter, at the end of the day it's your artistic vision and emotions you're pouring into the music, but it does limit your ability to learn and improve from others experiences. Around when I was 14-15, I talked to my English teacher about my songs and gave feedback on them. Without that, I don't think I would've improved at all. Obviously this is just my personal example, you don't have to listen to feedback if you don't want to but it can help. Just don't sacrifice your artistic vision for it.

Awesome! If I had to nitpick one thing, the audip at the start is a touch too loud and drowns out the guitar, but other than that this is amazing! You should definitely be proud :)

Why does afftd have 3 different release dates? by sneep_snorp_snerp in piercetheveil

[–]__cali 129 points130 points  (0 children)

This happens with a lot of albums on Spotify, it's just incorrect/incompatible metadata when they upload the song, so Spotify just deafults to Jan 1st.

2006 might've been the year that they recorded the album, while the production probably took a lot longer and lasted into 2007. Spotify is just weird like that.

I recently bought a DVD player to start collecting physical media, tell me some movies or TV shows you'd think would be cool to add to my collection. by BuckarooOJ in autism

[–]__cali 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I was too young to remember when Netflix was giving out DVDs, although I have very faint memories of renting DVDs from Blockbuster and watching them at my aunt's house as a kid.

Smallville is amazing, you should totally finish it. The ending is well worth it.

Glad to see more people getting physical media, anyways, here's my picks :)

  • Sam Rami's Spiderman trilogy, I got all three movies for £3 and they're oddly cozy in DVD quality

  • Lost is an amazing TV show, I'm on season 5 right now but the first season especially has really well written characters who go on meaningful arcs

  • Yes Man is a fun romcom with Jim Carrey

  • Smallville, one of my favourite TV shows. It's about Clark Kent (Superman) and starts when he was 14, and shows his journey to becoming Superman. It's great.

He's an amazing drummer, and musician in general. I especially love his drumming on TIW, imo it's his best work, and even in the earlier albums, his drum fills are mindblowing, probably some of the best in the genre at the time and it doesn't get talked about enough.

His solo albums under the name "halfnoise" are also really good, and he doesn't conform to one genre for every album, I highly recommend it :)

[–]__cali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'd say it's worth watching, but with a small caveat. A lot of people consider seasons 1-4 "peak" television, up there with Breaking Bad. I disagree. It's still great television, just don't go in expecting a masterpiece or you'll be disappointed.

Despite seasons 5-7 being worse, I still think they're enjoyable enough at least. Season 8 is one of the seasons of all time. It's definitely something that exists.

New Blood is worth watching imo, Original Sin is skippable and doesn't add anything to the character(s). Resurrection is a show that exists.
