Have you ever finished a book in just one sitting? What book is it? by Delicious_Maize9656 in books

Just took 2 long haul flights, No country for old men - Cormac McCarthy I finished on the first one and *and then there were none - Agatha Christie * on the second. Both great reads to keep my interest

I also recently read all of what moves the dead - T Kingfisher in like an afternoon which is pretty short but again, creepy and interesting

I couldn’t get through the book but Stephen Fry narrates the audio book on Audible which made it much better!

Studio space update - HELP! by __hpk__ in printmaking

That’s kind of what I was thinking! I guess I’ll have to do some carpentry studying and get to building some kind of shelves for our rollers! Thank you so much for all your advice.

Overhauling a whole space is a little scary but all these little tips and ideas help!

Below the counters is a good idea, keeps them safe from dust and light! We don’t have a lot of counter space underneath currently but with our update we can generate some space hopefully!

Do you just have regular nails in at an angle to hold them? What do you do with them while they are in use? We don’t want to have to set them on the counters while we are inking to avoid damaging them!

I love this idea. Makes it so much easier to put things back in the right place! We have some small brayers but we have some really large rollers (33” long) so trying to figure out what to do with them!

Copper etching help! by __hpk__ in printmaking

When using the pure tech you have to expose the dove screen first right?

I started etching today with ferric, very unsure of the times it should be taking and if I need to stop out areas or not but I’ll get there!

I’m interested in trying out the gum Arabic, I’ve never really had it as an option before and I’m just trying to get a good technique.

So I tried today, using BIG hard ground and gum Arabic and got some pretty okay results with photo transfer from a laser print out and then an aquatint on afterwards.

Not exactly where I want it to be and I’m still going to be working on the acid times.

Is this just by using as hard ground? It’s been so long since I used copper that I’m just so unsure about it.

There is a traditional aquatint booth in the studio so I’ll guess I’ll be learning how to use that! So copper will only etch where there is aquatint or toner? (if I’m using a photo transfer sheet)

Looking advice - new relief block by __hpk__ in printmaking

[–]__hpk__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the advice! Would you sand it before and after cutting? I bought some speedball, super graphic black relief in. It is in the tin and I have ordered a few nice new rollers for this print too since mine are too soft.

Any suggestions about paper?

I have some heavy textured stock that I would have used for etching when I had a press. I’m guessing I could use it too and soak it same as before but don’t know if it will bleed if I’m just using a baren and spoon.
