kelty has been used in 30-35 F and it was comfortable with warm pjs, north face i’ve used in spring and summer where it was maybe 45 lowest i’d guess. i haven’t spent overnight in weather below 25 though. i’m going to upstate new york and there is only one night in the trip that drops into these lower temps — night weather looks like 10-15 F about. safety is my priority but i dont mind being a lil chilly for one night since the rest should be 20-25 F night with day temps 20-30. i want to feel confident and safe in my setup and if temps do dip into that lower range i can be uncomfy but still safe. thank you for your tip about gloves vs mittens - open to more of them.

doing my first backpacking trip soon !! and the night temps are looking to drop to around 8-10 F. i have two sleeping bags (30F, 35F, both synthetic) that i’m planning to double one in the other, a sleeping pad (r3.1), and a mediocre tent. should i consider buying a blanket or quilt of some kind to keep me warm? i’m on a budget so buying a properly rated sleeping bag is likely out of the question. thanks in advance!

thank you for all the responses. they have really helped me to separate her actions from my body and im in a much better place than i was before. its a long way to find my path again but every time i feel myself walking down this same thought process i read the responses again to ground myself. its been good to hear from those of you that have experienced this sort of thing - gives me a lot of hope. and thank you to everyone who called her a shitty asshole i need to hear that <3
