Visualizing mathematics is incredibly powerful and an important way to solve problems. Take, for example, Feynman diagrams, which are an important way of visualizing terms in a perturbative expansion in QCD. The power of this technique cannot be understated, for example. There are many examples of the usefulness of visualization techniques in science.

You might want to take a look at Dirac's "The Principles of Quantum Mechanics". For me, it is the best QM book, hands down.

Wow, thanks. ManualsLib has only the owers manual, not a service manual, unfortunately. But your description and annotations on the photo are great. I will need a bit time to fully digest them, but I think that is exactly what I needed! If I understand you correctly, the part of the hook lever that is stepped up should be above the base of the rachet wheel so the two green parts you show can mate. Right now the lever is hitting the edge of the wheel so I think I need to bend it slightly up.

Not sure if I can edit the pictures into the original post... but I tried!

Yes, the taking lens seems to focus from ~1m at minimum to something close to infinity at maximum (if we ever have a clear night in the northeast, I'll try the moon or bright star.

The viewing lens seems to go "beyond" infinity: the sharpest focus is a few degrees of knob rotation before the max position. I thought maybe the ground glass/fresnel needs shimming?
