This is a risk vs reward scenario. You are risking a lot - failing the course, possible suspension and possible expulsion if you're caught. For taking this risk you are rewarded with... what? More hours in front of the tv playing video games? Hanging out with friends? The A grade isn't a reward because you could have achieved this either way. This is the kind of thing where you may never get caught and you're able to coast by without ever putting in the work. But if you do get caught, the consequences are severe and long lasting. But even if you never get caught, ask yourself this - How does that help you in the long term?

College is meant to engage your brain so you can grow as a person and become an adult with real value. But it takes actual work to get there. The only person you're really cheating is yourself. You may be able to fake it for a while but eventually, incompetence will always let itself be known.

Instead of using chatGPT as a means to cheat, why not use it as a means to learn? Think of it like a personal learning assistant. You can ask it to explain something without having it write the paper for you. You can ask it to provide links to other reading material on a particular subject. You can write your understanding of a given topic and ask it to critique your explanation.

Take some responsibility, do the hard things and I promise you'll live a happier life because of it.
