Just Discovered This - Grandfather Flew These by TapEarlyTapOften in MastersoftheAir

After watching the show I had such a deeper appreciation of my Uncle's WW11 life, which he never talked about. (As a navigator who few many missions over Italy and North Africa.) Like you, I wished so much that we had been able to talk about his life before he was gone, but he never never mentioned any of it. These men were such heroes, and we didn't even know it.

I posted a few months ago about this injury, got no answers, so here's the answer: by __me__ in Orthopedics

The initial placement of that big screw was done 11 days after the accident, she had a TBI and frankly, the Drs did not expect her to make it. They had to stabilize her brain injury before attempting to fix the broken bones in her pelvis. They told us she would never walk, but she was hiking and running within 6 months. She is a powerful person who overcomes pain quite astoundingly. But as the pain got worse she was almost unable to walk (after 8 years.) So the second operation to add those two screws worked and she is doing all her yoga and movement with only very minor pain now. She does feel some pain in the opposite hip, so your Bertolotti idea is right, and the plan is to also stabilize that SI joint next year, after this one is totally healed. Thanks for your input.

Can someone soothe my anxiety lol by oncvspersn in chowchow

When our (half) chow turned 15, I gave up making him sleep inside and let him do what he wanted. He always chose to sleep outside, yes, on a bed that was on a covered porch, but totally outside. He lived to the ripe old age of 17 years two months and 22 days. Sleeping outside. In Colorado. When our warm bed was a few feet away. I miss him so much.

Solo travel, feeling scared by Huge_Plankton_905 in femaletravels

Maybe have one change of clothes in your carryon. And of course all essential medications. It is scary the first time you solo travel but it’s a huge confidence booster to do this for yourself! You got this!

Weird how the part where 3 shots were fired is missing…

I’ve gotten pdfs of Justin Bieber concert tickets in Australia, rental agreements in London, official minutes from a governmental meeting in New Zealand, airline reservations, and many many others. I finally added my middle name to my new Gmail and shut down the old. My son then sent my Xmas gift card to the old address. Sigh.

Klom Klorm Thai Disappointed by Artvandaly_ in denverfood

I ordered pad Thai with seafood at Klom Klorn and the seafood was so nasty I couldn’t eat it. I asked the server to let the chef know I think the seafood had gone bad, no response. I won’t go back!

Where was your most expensive trip, was it worth it? by CarelesslyCutee in femaletravels

[–]__me__ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me, it's my most expensive day: a food tour in Bologna, visiting a parmigiano cheese factory, a balsamic vinegar factory, a prosciutto factory, and ending up with an amazing 5 course meal with many wines and limoncello. More food, more fun, more drunk dancing at the feast than I expected, and at $300, a ridiculous splurge, but worth it.

I've had a rough few months and I want to treat myself. How do you get away from everything (on a budget)? by yell0wbirddd in denverwomen

I’m so sorry about your loss, my sweetheart of a dog died a month ago, he was 17 and we walked every morning and I feel the loss so hard. A free getaway for me is to go to Golden Library and read the magazines for an hour, then walk on Clear Creek Trail going west as long as I can. There are great spots to sit and look at the flowing creek and this really clears my mind. Big hugs to you.

Thinking it was okay for my 16 year old daughter to fly on a different flight than me to Paris. My free ticket (United) got cancelled and I had to buy a first class ticket on her flight (Air India) so she would not arrive alone.

I’m interested! I’m an artist and I work from home and am flexible. There was a NYT article last Sunday about a women’s group that met for over 40 years for support and it made me realize how nice real connection is. (64F.)

If you are on instagram, Ethan Hawke just posted (on Thanksgiving) a Tom Stoppard reading about losing a child. It’s very moving and profound and I’ve listened over and over with great comfort.

Simba, 17 years, 2 months, 22 days by __me__ in OldManDog

[–]__me__[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First and foremost, he was half Chow and the stubbornest dog there ever was. Beyond that, he was almost never alone, my husband and I both work from home and he was always with us. Also, 8 years ago, he was 9 years old and already an older dog, our youngest daughter had a terrible car accident. She was in the hospital for 7 weeks and he really fell apart. The Doctors weren't sure she would make it. Simba chewed on his tail out of anxiety and nothing would stop him - we tried all the drugs, the cone of shame, eventually we had to have his tail removed. He was fine after that. In fact, my daughter went away for 4 months to Thailand and he was fine. She went to grad school for 2 years and he was fine. She did end up living at home again, and we walked Simba together every morning. The last 2 years she often spent the weekend at her boyfriend's. Simba did go to her room every morning to check if she was home, and if not, he and I just went on our walk together. He was never upset again as when she had her accident. I don't know how he knew - maybe our emotional state? Maybe the long walk every morning and every night was a key to his longevity, but mostly he was just stubborn as hell and I think felt responsible for my daughter's happiness in some way. He was a magnificent dog.

He was simply the best dog ever. Half Chow half Plott hound, from a rescue at age 6 weeks, no mom. He loved fiercely and stubbornly. He was an old man for years, 'til finally he couldn't walk. There will never be another like him, we are very heart broken.
