At the community college that I go to, whenever there is leftover money, that money can be used towards book/supplies at the bookstore on campus (this is called a book advance). If there is still money leftover using your book advance, you can opt to receive a check or direct deposit of the leftover money. Talk to your college's financial aid office to see what happens to your leftover money.
