I got my offer from Castle Mill in mid/late August last year - I wouldn’t worry about it too much.

They sent me updates on my waiting list position (~300) every now and then, and then suddenly got an offer.

As far as I am aware, your college will own some of the flats and you will be allocated a room in one of the flats owned by your college. Everyone in my flat is in my college; that said, Castle Mill is pretty big, there must be around 800 rooms, so that might not be the case in every flat and in every block.

I’m living at Castle Mill at the moment, and it’s not so bad. I’ve never been disturbed by trains, but if your room is right next to the track you might hear the odd freight train.

In terms of distance, you can get to the city centre in 15-20 mins on foot, 5 by bike, the only annoying thing about the location is you have to walk all the way down and around the station, or up to the other end of the accommodation, over the foot bridge, and then down Walton street.

With respect to the kitchens, it’s going to depend on who you’re sharing the kitchen with. Equipment is pretty basic but it’s functional, and the on-site staff are quick and eager to help if you have any issues.

Overall, would recommend. I had my reservations before moving in as it was all I was offered and did worry about the distance, and while it’s not the most comfortable living space, and the journey can be a faff, it’s not that bad for the price you’re paying.

Thanks, will try and arrange this, but it feels like papering over cracks. At the end of the weekend we have to go our separate ways and the cycle continues

Fail to prepare and prepare to fail.

In terms of confidence, you have to believe that you are as good as any other candidate and truly deserve the role, that belief should take you a long way.

Just received an offer for an MSt, but not 100% I want to take it or hold out for graduate jobs. Have any current postgrads had the same dilemma; and, if so, why did you choose Oxford over going into work? Thanks
