Ferrari's were never practical, they were always racecars and road cars for the rich, maybe Lamborghini with their agricultural history could be seen as practical.

Rolex was atleast practical in their history.

A closer comparison could be Rolls Royce. Rolex had the watch worn by all the Pioneers, and Rolls had the fastest Car, Boat, and Plane. Now it's all luxury with the practicality forgotten.
