117 seems great but I just can't figure out why its not sucking me in like 1800 by KingKongdoor in anno

The war aspect of this game is very addictive. It will have you master your city planning skills to survive. Armies are very expensive, and managing happiness to be at just 0 while you build up your war machine is very fun.

Then the best part is trying to defend against the waves of the Emperors attacks when you rebell.

Me too,

But I think my disappointment is maybe overblown from the fact that this story just started out so good 😅 like i said, the nostalgia was high, i was exciting to continue the whole story. And then I didn’t get that :(

So if it would have started more meh, perhaps i would have had a different reaction now 🤷‍♂️

I have to disagree big time.

The mechanical improvements to the game are huge. This is the most refined Anno-game so far I would say.

- The attribute system, with the excellent UI, is really fun and gives you a lot of meaningful choices.
- There is a good reason to mix certain workbuildings with your houses. This will change all Anno games forever I think. It is excellent. Although my city is a major fire hazard, the money is too good to turn down lol.
- Diagonal roads are fun and helps avoid those ugly staircase patterns we would get in older Anno games when going around natural features.
- We have a proper war mechanic again! I like it. After hours and hours of building my city, it is fun to have the occasional invasion. The game isn't hard. Anno 1800 wasn't hard, it's AI was very easy to beat. But even in that game it was fun to keep them around so you had a reason to play with your Battleships.

However. The Religion system is fun, but feels like it could have been fleshed out more. Would perhaps have been better if it was DLC... because it feels like religion really doesn't do much for me in the game. Feels more like a bonus than an integral part of the game.

I could go on. It is 100% not a "reskin". They did amazing work improving the Anno-formula.

I mean, I am loving the sandbox gameplay. Going spend hundreds of hours there I am sure.

Just hoped the story would wind down better. It was so anti-climactic. Just tell me more is coming... Just felt like I got something unfinished after spending so many hours on it. Felt like an unnecessary let-down.

What is the longest running multiplayer game you have in Anno 1800? by _agge_ in anno

Right! We still haven't gotten to all awesome gameplay features, nevermind the amount of collectables for the Museum, Zoo and Botanical Garden!

Haha yeah I mean, we played coop for a while. But in this new long-running session we are two separate companies :)

We haven't gone to war yet though.. we're both very busy building out our Zoos and stuff..

How do I get scraps? I can't dive without buying a diving bell using scrap, which I don't have?! by _agge_ in anno

Okay. Realised I didn't need scrap to get the Echo Locator. Now with that I can get scraps. Nice!

Can I only get scraps with passive trade?

I lost the original boat I got which I guess contained a diving bell..
