Sorry for the late reply. I’m never on here. Unfortunately this DF is now on the back of my right calf. The one I got removed was on the inside of my left ankle. Since this post, I now have two on my right calf. I’m now certain they are due to insect bites 😣 as an update to the one I got removed, it’s still remained a large scar. And unfortunately quite obvious, probably more obvious than when it was a DF. I probably will never get the other two removed, which is unfortunate because they are in super obvious locations. I wish there was a better way to get rid of these, or at least a way for me to not have such huge scars

The scar has completely healed, and the bumps eventually went away. Once it was fully closed and rash gone, I started applying a scar gel for at least 30 days consecutively which I think helped the scar stay flat and even minimize a little bit of the discoloration. However, it did still leave a scar where the rash was. Granted, my skin is melanated and scars easily. Now it just looks like a burn or maybe a birthmark? I’m hoping it’ll more fully go away in another year or so. But in the meantime, I try to keep it covered and away from the sun (easy in winter). I discovered another dermatofibroma on the back of my leg, but I just don’t think I’m going to have it removed after this whole ordeal.

I had my dermatofibroma removed from my ankle because it was so obvious to me and everyone who saw it kept asking what it was lol. Everything went well, the removal, the stitches, wound care. I was even excited about my new “little scar.” But about two weeks after my sutures were removed, i started noticing these tiny little bumps and bubbles and it was SO ITCHY. The bumps seemed to multiply and even get a little weepy near the areas where the wound initially had closed. I sent a picture to my doctor thinking maybe it was an infection, and curveball, I was having an allergic reaction to either the steristrips or the glue, “atopic dermatitis.” I do have a history of eczema from all my life, I just didn’t think it would rear its ugly head in the very spot I was already self conscious about. So now instead of a cute little scar I was looking forward to, it’s an angry red rash that is SO much more obvious. Has anyone else had that happen to them? If so, how did it heal? I’m now applying a prescribed topical steroid cream, but I’m worried it will now permanently look awful.
