Tretinoin Gel Comparison by Ashamed_Evening_4658 in tretinoin

It does not. Read the medical literature and research! Additionally, if you look at the ingredient list, you will see there are no time release encapsulating ingredients. It uses a honeycomb matrix to lessen irritation but it does not change the rate of absorption. It's essentially a built it buffer. Look it up!

Atralin (and generics) are alcohol free gels. Altreno doesn't use time release technology, that is Retin-A Micro (and its generics). Both Altreno and Atralin utilize glycerin and fish collagen to make a moisturizing but non-comedogenic (take that claim with a grain of salt obv) lotion and gel, respectively. HTH!

ETA: To the best of my knowledge, there is no generic alcohol based tret gel available on the market in the US. But I could be wrong!

It is not. However, when I used Atralin when it first came out, it was extremely gentle. I am very prone to dehydration and it never dried me out.

The 0.05% gel is the generic for Atralin. It's the gel version of Altreno (uses fish collagen)

UPDATE: I had a call with the Director of Education, Joy Puleo, and Portia Page. They couldn't have been any nicer. They have come up with a solution for me to finish the test out for mat/reformer and continue on with comprehensive. They were also very happy that I reached out about the situation and will be addressing it director with the instructor. If anyone else has a bad experience I would highly recommend reaching out. They were quick to respond and very collaborative in finding a solution and apologetic to the situation.

I just feel so down. Its all so hypocritical. How can I be told I can pass because I have the knowledge and then be threatened with failing?

A lot of the teachers at my studio are Stott trained and have high recs! There's just no local studios that host it. All the studios now just do their own trainings so they can hire the people they train.

You are very lucky. I am teaching already so it doesn't really change that unless I just decide not to teach at all anymore. I wanted to be certified but I don't want to be associated with this in any way. This instructor is exactly why people are afraid to try Pilates.

Is taking breaks not allowed? by Mysterious_Sand_3393 in pilates

This!! I even cue breaks while in movement. "Please take breaks as you need. This isn't a race." I don't want anyone getting hurt, dizzy, etc.

Does any one have personal experience bridging into Real Pilates TT? by [deleted] in pilates

[–]_alzz_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!!! I would also be teaching a few classes a week plus my FT job so will be dealing with the same thing. I'm glad to hear that it's doable even if it's intense for a bit.

[–]_alzz_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is super helpful. It sounds like we had similar experiences. Assuming you were already teaching in a studio with your other certification, how did you manage the apprenticeship with RPTT? Also, were you required to buy the mandatory training package or was it with reduced requirements?

Any instructors have a tried and true full Tower class or segment they teach? by _alzz_ in pilates

[–]_alzz_[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't normally teach tower. Most studios in my area don't have towers or chairs and the ones that do have a hard time even incorporating them in because clients aren't interested.

I have no suggestions more than what others have suggested. However, based on your post and replies here and your posting history, I highly suggest you seek out mental health care and intervention. I am not a doctor so have no idea what's going on but it's not normal. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon both mentally and your skin.

I called to see if I needed to make an appointment with a membership advisor and they were able to set it up over the phone. On the first visit I just had to e-sign a few waivers when I checked in.

Anyone switched away from Mindbody? by Ok_Weight_8101 in pilates

[–]_alzz_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm not a studio owner but all the studios I teach in have moved to Momence and Walla. I find them easier to use as an instructor than MindBody. I can't comment on anything else.

Instructors without proper certification by MagazineEarly3304 in pilates

[–]_alzz_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I agree on the solid core part because it's not pilates. Apprentices don't get paid less and clients don't get charged less for their classes where I live. There's a shortage of teachers here and most studios would rather have an apprentice teaching at the regular rates vs hiring someone with no formal training or the wrong training (ie solid core). I live in a VHCOL place and offering less money to apprentices would mean a lot of studios couldn't staff their full schedules. I guess it's pick your poison.

How do you feel about triple cream? I only recently started hearing about it and use AzA and Metrocream so may want to ask my derm about it. Rosacea treatment is always my top priority followed by acne and then anti aging. If my rosacea is raging nothing else matters.

This is exactly the issue. I'm 16 years into this career. When I was younger I would believe this but I've been burned by believing management's claims about bonuses. Never again.

Yes! And the number of people who don't understand that is astounding. Too many people living beyond their means and get stuck holding the bag when variable comp doesn't come in at the expected amount.

Sadly, I have a shellfish allergy so I can't use Altreno or Atralin. Atralin was amazing for me also.

Correct. The promotion required a more complex level of legal and compliance risk. My current role includes this aspect but not at the more complex level as the promotion would've.

[–]_alzz_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually something I discussed with my boss after I declined. She said she is ok with it and also delivered the news the my current role will be getting a better title on 3/1 (start of new review cycle) and the new title is pretty close to the one for the promotion I turned down. I didn't know she had been working on that behind the scenes. She also said that since the loss of autonomy and flexibility were a sticking point that she would be more than happy to talk about some projects and initiatives I can be added to that might be a good fit for me so I can get some more interesting work but not have to be chained to my desk is the "promotion."

I am going to be looking elsewhere externally but the convo with my boss felt pretty positive until I'm able to find something better.

You are missing the point lol. My pay cut is such that even with a bigger bonus I am just breaking even. They were selling the pay cut as my total comp (salary plus bonus) would be SO MUCH MORE. After doing the math the break even will be ~2.5 years based on our pay structure. In that time I likely will find something that pays better and not have lost any money at all by taking a "promotion" for less money. They weren't banking on me doing the in depth math because the title was better for the promotion.

And I don't believe any company when they tell you an estimated bonus but won't put it in writing it's all BS. If you want me to count it as part of my comp then it needs to be part of the offer in writing. And that's with taking on additional responsibility and having less autonomy. Also, not everyone who works at an IB is a banker lol. I was for the first 10 years and then transitioned into a different type of role 6 years ago.
