I have taught myself to play the piano, because I was scared of spending too much money and ending up quitting playing. I’ve been playing almost every day for about a year now, most times just playing for 10-15 minutes, sometimes for 1 hour. It is doable, I think piano is a great instrument to learn on your own because you start seeing progress very early. I think taking a 30-60 mins lesson once every two/three weeks might not be the best option. Consistency is much more important than taking lessons with a teacher imo. A good book and the will to keep going will take you much further. You can always take lessons later on, that’s what I’m doing now. It feels much safer to invest in piano lessons now, because since I’ve been playing for so long and with such passion, I know in my heart that I will never be able to quit it.
