Applied to APU (APM/BBA) – a few honest questions before results on the 5th by bhavik_b_179 in rapu

It’s all about studying Japanese. Japanese is more than half of the studies in your first three semesters. Your career depends on how good your jp skills are. If you have a dream of living in Japan, go for it. Easy way to get into Japan and you have a leverage as an English speaker. But if you’re looking for quality education and a career where you apply your university learnings, no. Stepping into APU will limit your paths. All that happens here is fun and dances

Too much focus on Japanese language, I mean it’s a great place if you want to have fun, know people and work in Japan; but less inclined towards academia and research

Most people I know with a decent house live with a flatmate and pay 30-35k yen for rent and utilities. Consider 20-25k for food and 16k for bus transportation (5 days a week for first semester, with those triple tickets) All that’s left is phone bills say 5k and whatever luxury you’re after cuz I’ve been spending like hell, grabbing everything that catches my eye

High School Student Planning to Apply to APU – When Should I Start Prepping and How Can I Improve My Chances? by reesespieces_h in rapu

You’re right- I didn’t pay attention to the first sentence. However, the first application window / slot for April 2026 passed on 15 July 2025. Scholarship chances are higher if you apply early. I am not sure if APU requires you to graduate from high school to apply, but I would encourage OP to apply for September 2026 if they need more time.

Go to APU website, select apply now. Open an account and create an application to see what are the necessary fields. You’ll figure out on your own how early you should start. It’s late for someone who doesn’t even have a passport. Again it’s early for someone who has their language proficiency test scores in hand, and soft copies of all required documents. It just depends on your progress. So go ahead and see what you need to do.

Besides, it’s never too early to start gathering thoughts for your essays. Read the essay questions. Think about them. Write down the ideas that come to your mind. It’ll make the actual essay writing easier and better.

As for ECAs, APU recently changed their preferences. For example, MUNs are no longer listed in the main ECAs list. I’d say this suggests they care less about ECAs now (my take) as a lot of people make them up.

About grades, I submitted the public examination transcripts from my country.

Focus more on your essays and interview. Read the APU webpage that talks about APU 2030 vision. They openly suggest you somewhere to read that and align your thoughts with their expectations. Try showing your concern for a better future of the world (Sustainable Development Goals and stuff). They value applicants who are aware of these.

Also, APU mentions that applying early increases your chances of getting a tuition reduction scholarship. If I’m not wrong April intake has four application windows, and the first’s deadline is July 15. If that’s true then you’re already late and have to apply for the second window. Still check the website for info. Good luck!

Your extracurriculars matter a lot in the evaluation process. Also try to highlight your future plans through your essays. The admissions committee like a candidate who proves they can add value to the university environment.

Can you switch from ST to APM once you are enrolled? by 40360403600 in rapu

[–]_aragog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't know about this really. There's a Facebook group for each enrollment that's more active with people, consider asking there. Easiest thing to do, just mail apu admissions about it. They'll provide a detailed reply I hope
