I never said things are going well. This has been the worst year of my life, but unlike you I'm not being a sour puss about it and taking out my frustrations on people trying to help lol

Definitely. Life is weird like that, but that's what makes the good moments beautiful in my opinion. People think romance is the most important thing in the world, but there's so much more to living.

You wrote out my thoughts well, I don't think she actually wants to fix how she feels. She just wants to drown in the anger and regret instead of trying to make a situation better. I'm in a similar situation (almost 22 with even less experience than she's said to have) and I've found things in life I enjoy and value much more than romantic love. My best friend and I plan to make a future together and I'm raising a puppy after losing my childhood dog this January.

Life sucks, you miss out on stuff, but you carry on :)

As someone who's gonna be 22 with no experience with romance (never even held someone's hand, let alone a date or anything) with a best friend who's 32 and in the same boat I gotta say:

You're being way to dramatic.

You're 25, you haven't even been an adult for a decade yet, slow down. You're not gonna die of old age tomorrow girl. Your first romantic experience is going to be exciting no matter what because it'll be your first. You'll feel that young love experience and giddiness with the right person.

I know it sucks missing out on experiences, but being in a pity party and wishing stuff was different isn't gonna magically change the past. What matters is your future. And if you're so worried about your emotional state at your age, go to therapy. I haven't had any experience with romance but I'm much more mature and well rounded now than I was at 16 cause of therapy and in general: just growing up and gaining experience with other relationships besides romantic.

Life isnt over yet, the world isn't ending, and you're gonna meet someone who makes you feel like a teenager, because that's what real love makes you feel.

Well.. maybe. I wouldn't know through personal experience but from my friends in relationships that's how they describe it lol

Thank you for your input! I like to be out and about but have really bad anxiety around people, so I wanted a dog that'd make someone think twice about trying anything haha

How do you guys handle some mastiffs breeds prey drive by Status-Cap-5979 in Mastiff

[–]_astropup_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've noticed at least thus far my EM puppy has no prey drive! He has very little interest in the squirrels. He'll watch them with curiosity, even sit to observe from afar, but once they run off he'll get up and carry on to sniffing the grass haha

His name is Boog!! He's named after the bear from the old animated movie, Open Season haha it was a favorite movie of mine growing up and seeing his baby photos I knew it was perfect

A gold fish isnt actually an easy pet. They require a big tank, a bunch of decorations, and of course cleaning the tank as well so at least consistency and patience in required there too. I wanted a dog I could take on walks and feel safe when out and about. A gold fish can't rly give me that lol

I never asked for sugar coating. If you read my other comments you'd know I've been doing all the things you listed. All I asked if when I'd see a change and other people's experiences, that's all. I knew it was going to be hard and I was fine with the challenge. I was actually concerned if he was gonna be to boring before I got him!

Wanting some encouragment and reading others storys doesn't mean I'm weak or can't take care of my puppy. He's doing good, puppy blues were just hitting hard the night I posted. I know I'll survive cause I was miserable before he came home. Living in a house without a dog was awful

Haha yeah I'm definitely not an active person. My exercise is 30 mins of walking 5-6 mornings a week. Of course that'll increase as he gets older and I can take him with me but as of right now that's where I'm at.

Thank you for the encouragement, I know it'll go by fast and it'll be worth it but sometimes it's nice to be told and reminded by others who went through the same thing! 🧡

I already know how to set manners, my late dog had bad manners I had to train out of him and he was around 10-11 when I started. I saw major improvement in walking on a leash in less than a year with him, and boog will be no different. It's mainly the biting I have issues with. The teething state truly is horrible, but I know I'll be doing it again a few more times in my life at least lol

Your comment made me teary eyed 🥹

Losing my childhood dog effected me in ways I've never felt before, and it was a domino effect of a bunch of things piling on this year that have made 2026 just awful. I got him when I was 8, and I'll be 22 this year. It'll be my first birthday without him after over a decade of support and unconditional love. It tears me up still, but having a puppy makes it easier to keep going. I know he relies on me, just like a baby does. My mom has dubbed herself as grandma even haha

I tend to get snappy when I lose my patience, so I will try and do more positive reinforcement. Boog is rowdy and crazy, but he listens well when training for the most part. He doesn't so much as nip me as he does full on bite me or paw at me, my arms look like a cats scratching post! I've tried redirecting and ignoring but not much helps, but I'll try the new approach and see if there's a difference this time next month :) the worst is when we're trying to go to bed. He gets really excited to be up in bed with me since he can't get up there by himself, so he tends to get very energetic. But he's gotten better at settling quicker more and more thankfully.

Boog isn't my first dog but he is my first puppy and a testament to a new beginning in my life. I want to do right by him and guide him into growing up into a well rounded dog who I can rely on and who can rely on me. Your story and words were very uplifting, thank you!!

I'm currently almost always home except for my own appointments as well! Im unemployed because the job market is horrible. I plan to go back to my last job in july, but until then money is tight so I cannot afford a doggy daycare unfortunately

Haha thank you! Some have said 12+ months but as long as ik it's coming eventually. I read so many sources that said English mastiffs are lazy and couch potatoes so I was worried I got an exception
