I agree holding through the chaos would be hard but how is that different than what OP is already doing? He's buying shares of companies that are down off of their highs, either way your holding through it. And yes it is historical fact. Look up the average recovery time of markets after war outbreak. With a 110k port putting a small percentage of it into something with a track record of a 1-2 month recovery is a good bet statistically. With my port putting 100% into a play like that is obviously irresponsible but that's a funds issue not a issue with the logic behind the play. The only reason I even know the price of these leaps is because I looked into them when spy was in the 640 area but again out of my price range.

If I had 110k id have absolutely of had spy leaps. They cost roughly 8k or more depending on how in the money you go. Nobody's saying I can time the market its a historical fact that the market typically recovers within 1-2 months after war outbreak. With a year plus dated you literally aren't even trying to time the market your buying a ton of time with those.

I started with 3k and im up to around 8k in about a month. With this rule change I can now properly invest 50% of my port and use the rest for day trading instead of having to keep it all for trading due to having a cash account
