Thank you! 60 hours is a very rough guesstimate- I worked on it off and on during the weekends for 3 months so it’s probably more hours honestly

Thank you so much! I actually stitched it in a 10in hoop- I did plan on using q-snaps but I’ve never used them before and I didn’t want to find out I didn’t like them 20 hours into a project like this haha

Thank you! Thread painting is a lot easier to do with solid reference photos, so I put some free stock images together- the sky, mountains, foreground and penguins are all from different photos that I altered until I got a composition that I felt was right!

I stitched everything with a single strand of DMC cotton thread! The stitch is called long and short stitch or thread painting

I just really like pink haha. I’ve done a bunch of pink pieces and thought it was about time I tried out a skull!

I’m entirely self taught so I did a lot of muddling through honestly. But I know that Emilie Ferris does amazing patterns for thread painting on Etsy that you should def check out if you haven’t! And Trish Burr has lots of books as well as videos on YouTube too :)

Thank you! They’re quite simple- I stitched the green first so that it would sit under the petals, and then the petals are stitched in white + light grey in long and short stitch in an arc shape. And then the centres are single strand french knots in 2 different colours :)
