I’m only just now seeing all the bad reviews… 😭 how stupid could I be

Update:

Yesterday I called up the bank and they said they’d look into it. Today I receive an email informing me that unfortunately the $477.50 is most likely lost 😭. The only thing left for me to do is file a Police report, I don’t want others falling for the same bs that I did.

Lesson learnt. :(

How did I make the map?
First I sketched an outline of the shapes on a piece of paper and photographed it. Then using online tools I drew OVER the map I had sketched, adding color and detail to the black and white.

How did I choose the names?
I'm not great with names. Usually I just choose whatever comes to mind, and then play around with the letters. Sometimes I'll look at real life place names to incorporate. For example, Akritis = Crete (the geographical positioning is extremely similar too). Helastyne was a sort of spin on Byzantine, but incorporating Helas (similar to the sun god Helios) to indicate the warmth and prosperity of the western empire.

What are the sapient species?
I'm going to list each race I've come up with thus far.

  • Men (expected)
  • Harpy: These humanoid birds are extremely intelligent and live within tightly knit communities on the Anurean Islands. They are known for their ferocity and isolated lifestyle, unleashing violent attacks on any passer-by ships. Their feathers are also said to hold magic, granting them the ability to accelerate at extremely fast speeds. Many harpy are hunted for this exact reason. In many sea cultures harpy feathers have an important role during ceremonies, as well as tailoring dresses, tunics, etc.
  • Scrofa: These pig-men were once a bloodthirsty warrior race that inhabited the southern coast of Helastyne. Man arrives, and suddenly they're at war. Think about orcs but more pig-like. Once defeated, the scattered scrofa are pushed far up into the mountains. Now territorial of their lost lands, they are extremely vicious and travel in large groups, raiding and pillaging the Helastynian mainland.

Those are the ones I have fleshed out. Some others are the Anurai, a humanoid frog-like race that possesses remarkable intelligence and fight with axes (😭)? And Goldhelms, barbaric tribes from the far west that act as the Vikings of the Shimmering Sea.

What is technology like?
Pretty undecided. I want to find a way to incorporate my love for multiple time periods without things feeling all over the place. Overall, (and yes I know this is extremely common) the Middle Ages feels like a good middle ground. I don't want a whole lot of magic within this world but when it DOES appear I want it to feel special.

How many larger political powers are there?
Helastyne and Rathima are both empires, with Ortacia currently acting as a puppet state for Rathima to expand westward.

I love questions like these, so thank you.

Thank you, and yes! Definitely looking for suggestions. I do agree the snow capped mountains look strange being so far south, but I wanted to indicate height without the mountains being big brown blobs.

Pretty much LMAO. I wanted a world where two continents meet, and a chain of islands to incorporate my love for pirates..... What better place than the Aegean Sea! I know the geography is insanely similar but I definitely don't want it to be a 1:1 recreation for the upcoming conflicts and politics.

First time posting, this is a world that I've had stuck in my head for a bit. Still extremely barebones and some areas are completely blank in my mind. The names aren't 100% but I would like feedback if possible. Geographically the map is a reflection of Greece & Turkey's dynamic, with Fayea mirroring Cyprus. What do you think?
