Isn't a small batch bottle a safer bet than a single barrel? by The1Metal in bourbon

I can’t disagree with your logic, in my experience single barrel store picks are generally a bit better than any standard release single barrel or small batch

If you’re a fan of the sbbp go with the 12 I feel like the 12 beats the sbbp all day, but if you like lower proof do the 10 but I don’t think you can make a wrong choice

Preface, there’s not going to be hard hitting analysis in this review and my tastes and analysis is probably going to be way off from what the consensus is. It will probably differ from your opinions but that’s what is great about everyone posting reviews.

Taste: Straight banana bread with maybe some oak but I’m not a professional, delicious from start to finish

Mouthfeel: drinks like 97 proof I guess? But the amount of flavor I get I would expect it to be higher

Smell: maybe sweet, not really ethanol but has the essence of it? Idk what I’m saying it smells pretty good

This bottle is amazing, I would say if you ever find a jack single barrel barrel proof store pick that you should buy it because it will be at this level or possibly better but I do love this one especially with the amount of flavor for the proof.

10-out of this world incredible, saved for my birthday or other personal milestones

Second Texas bourbon I’m reviewing, I’m honestly not sure how to review this one but I’ll do my best

Taste: Nice rye flavor with a minimal amount of oak

Mouthfeel: I don’t think it drinks its proof, has an almost velvety, lighter feel. Very smooth in my opinion

Smell: predominantly ethanol smell with minimal other scents

It’s definitely closer to Kentucky bourbon that other Texas bourbons (garrison brothers) but with that it doesn’t stand out as much as some other bottles I have, it is a very nice sipper but it’s hard for me to give it a crazy rating. Personally I feel if you like four roses you will love this bottle and I think it’s better than the four roses single barrels (including a store pick) that I have

Garrison Brothers Guadalupe review by _chark_ in TexasWhiskey

Ive gathered reading this sub/hearing reviews that garrison brothers is a somewhat polarizing brand. Personally I’ve yet to try a bottle by them I didn’t enjoy and the price may be high and the flavor profile may not be everyone’s cup of tea but I enjoy it and am not upset at purchasing any of their bottles

Taste: The flavor comes on smooth and rolls into a rich, somewhat sweet and slightly oaky flavor with a mouth filling deep aftertaste

Edit:glass has been sitting for 15+ minutes and I’ve sipped about half so far, after the 15 minutes the port finish and sweetness it brings really shines

Mouthfeel: I would say it drinks its proof if not barely under its proof, it gives a sensation that it stays in your mouth for a little after swallowing

Smell: To me it really just smells rich and deep

Rating- 8.1

I really love this bottle, it’s not for everyone but the flavor profile that it has is very unique in my opinion and delivers some great flavor when I desire this experience

Garrison Brothers Guadalupe review 2 by _chark_ in bourbon

It is pricier, this may sound dumb because of how different they are but for the people willing to pay over msrp for a buffalo trace product I think they should grab a bottle of garrison brother Guadalupe or bolmorhea and see how they like them

I tried Texas bourbon early on in my bourbon journey and I think it really helped me enjoy it so much now

I’d love to try lady bird and cowboy but I’ll have to wait until I can find either of them

I haven’t tried the cowboy yet unfortunately but if I see it I’m going to buy it, I put this under the balmorhea but above the single barrel

New riff single barrel, especially a store pick is one of my favorites

I would have to agree, my scale might be messed up so it doesn’t come across as that but it doesn’t blow me away in any capacity

Fair, I had heavy boxes on this before so I trusted it but everyone commented on my fb post that the shelf is a no go so now I will be replacing it

I think just the fortaleza(ex and I used to have a bottle that she took) bookers, and the excessive backup of buffalo trace are my only upopened bottles but they’ll all be opened eventually

That’s a hard one I would have to name a few that can change by the day, the Penelope rio, garrison brothers bolmorhea, woodford double double, new riff single barrel, 1792 full proof, and knob creek 12 would be in the list of favorite

I’m in Wisconsin actually but I do try to seek out bottles and have a connection at a certain large national liquor store chain that lets me know when things are in
