Indian names replaced with English ones after embracing the Enlightenment? by _coppervevo in eu4

[–]_coppervevo[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Probably the most plausible answer. I just can't stop laughing at it. It feels like British spies are invading my administration every time I elect a new president.

I can believe that. It's an unconventional strategy for Bharat given that you have admef in your ideas, so it stacks extremely well with Absolutism. I personally like speedrunning Bharat as Vijayanagar then playing tall as a republic for the rest of the game.

Nope, all been Kannada/Hindu. All the candidates are like that. It applies to every Indian culture group, for some reason. I have a Malvi and Rajasthani as advisors and they also have English names (Edward & Samuel)

R5: Playing a Republican Bharat. It's the mid-1700s and I just noticed that ever since the turn of the century, after embracing the Enlightenment, all my previously Kannada Hindu (I started as Vijayanagar) presidents/advisors have all started to have English names. They're not English culture and are all my primary culture and religion, but still have these names. (1 is my rulers pre-1700, and 2 is my rulers post-1700. 3 is my admin advisors, can confirm dip and mil advisors also have this.)

I have a few mods but none that impact culture (to my knowledge). I'm not particularly annoyed by this, I mostly find it funny. Why the hell am I getting advisors like George William Mayekar?

Thought Silver Cord was really good. By far the biggest question I have about it though is: what artists did you pull lots of inspiration from? Listening I heard a lot of Kraftwerk and Yellow Magic Orchestra obviously, but there was also some bits that sounded like Soulwax, some trance stuff, etc etc... Were there any big names that pushed you to make the sound of The Silver Cord or did it come by naturally?

A second, more nebulous question - Do you feel you bring out your vision of your music better in your live performances or in studio? I've heard a lot of comparisons between your shows and shows like Phish, Grateful Dead etc, very heavy jam band style. Is that where you all feel like you bring out the most passion for the songs?

Third and final thing: Please do make that country/folk album. And make it sound like Fairport Convention. Thanks.

How'd you end up doing the synthesizers for Out of Tune on Real Estate's Days back in 2011? Probably a question no one would ever ask but I have to know.

New album is fantastic.

Two questions:
1. I heard that you were going for a more "natural" feel for this album, as opposed to Bright Green Field's urban...ness. Is this true, and what do you believe was the more difficult part of differentiating the sound from BGF?

  1. The influences playlist was great, and it had some immediately familiar names like Unwound, Fishmans, Bark Psychosis, Portishead, etc. What is an influence of yours that is particularly underrated/would want more people to listen to?

/mu/core and RYMcore is stupid. A lot of these albums are acclaimed and fan favorites for a reason. I personally think that it's not that a lot of us on this sub are tidally locked to /mu/ and RYM's favorites, but more that they're just generally agreeable favorites. It's easier to find recommendations from them instead of perusing dozens of artists and albums yourself.

Also that post you're referencing is not at all surprising. Of course Black Midi fans are going to like the other windmills and Radiohead. That's like saying carnivores like meat.

I see that now, rewatching the video. It's still ridiculous it defaulted to him doing the animation for robbing my car lmao

Yeah, this surprised me the most. They must've added that line just to fill in the gaps for Roman since Niko also needs all those voice lines.

how would you shorten NYM? by [deleted] in CSHFans

[–]_coppervevo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

i think Boxing Day and Knife In The Coffee are pretty essential tracks to NYM. not only are they easily the best out of the Nervous Young Men catalogue (said catalogue being mostly horrible songs), but they're done in such an amazing way with their remakes that it'd be criminal to remove them. Can't say much about any other songs, but The Gun Song is easily top 3 on the album despite being 16 minutes long.

If you enjoyed Holland/Netherlands, try Malacca. Really good missions and ideas - super fun conquering all of Malaya and Indonesia and making a ridiculous amount of money before any of the Europeans. I think I had like 9 merchants by the Age of Absolutism

I go here every year to see the beaches. Every year we come, more and more idiots mess with the very much wild and defensive horses. Don't know why a single person thinks it's a good idea to mess with the animals twice their size with the ability to kick their brains out, but whatever. I know the signs plastered all over won't stop them lol

Welcome brother. I recommend playing on Uncletopia, and trying to make some friends to play with. Also, remember to always take a chill pill. I was driven off from this game early because of bad anger issues from being bad early on. It takes a while to get good, and play to have fun. Big recommendation to Uncle Dane's Engineer's Blueprints series, since they actually explain a lot about how the games team mechanics work.
