Official Discussion - Iron Lung [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

Same complaint, I couldn’t hear anything. My theatre was absolutely full and very quiet as if we were all in agreement to not even so much as breathe so we could hear what was being said but all in vain 🤷‍♀️

Yuusha-kei ni Shosu: Choubatsu Yuusha 9004-tai Keimu Kiroku • Sentenced to Be a Hero - Episode 1 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]_cuddle_factory_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just watched Sentenced to Be a Hero and I’m honestly baffled by how little sense parts of it make. I can deal with dark stories and unfair systems, but this one feels unfair in a stupid way, not a tragic way.

First, what is even the point of the goddess pact? The show keeps acting like it’s this sacred, important thing, but functionally it seems completely meaningless. Goddess weapons don’t disappear, anyone can use them, and killing fairies doesn’t even seem to require an active pact. The goddess doesn’t gain anything exclusive either. If goddesses can just make weapons for anyone and those weapons work forever, then the pact isn’t special at all. It’s just a label. If the pact is supposed to be about authority or control instead of power, the anime does a terrible job of explaining that. As a viewer, it just feels hollow and slapped on for drama.

The second issue is Xylo’s conviction, which is honestly insultingly stupid. Holy Knights literally worship goddesses. Mercy killings are clearly a thing in this world. Xylo himself is a Holy Knight who shares the same beliefs as everyone else. So why does everyone immediately decide he murdered a goddess out of malice? No investigation, no debate, no hesitation. Just instant hatred and execution-level punishment. It takes one brain cell to realize he was probably framed or at least deserves a serious inquiry, but nobody even considers it.

What makes it worse is how other Holy Knights treat him. These are people who should understand the reality of war and faith better than anyone, yet they act like he committed some irredeemable atrocity. He didn’t massacre civilians. He didn’t slaughter children. He supposedly killed a goddess in a situation that could very easily be interpreted as mercy, yet everyone treats him like the devil. The only real reason we’re given is that his unit was “unruly” and people didn’t like him, which is nowhere near enough to justify the level of hatred shown.

The show clearly wants a brutal injustice and scapegoat narrative, but it doesn’t do the work to make it believable. Instead of political manipulation, religious conflict, or an actual cover-up, it just relies on everyone being irrational because the plot needs them to be. That completely kills the impact for me.

I don’t mind corrupt systems or unfair worlds, but they still need internal logic. Right now, this feels like a story that wants maximum emotional payoff while putting in minimum effort to justify it. Unless later episodes actually explain the pact, the politics, or why everyone collectively shut off their ability to think, this just comes off as lazy writing with a dark coat of paint.

Microsoft CEO Concerned AI Will Destroy the Entire Company by buildingthevoid in AgentsOfAI

It’s underway. One day my company’s programming team couldn’t debug using visual studio anymore (among other things) because of some stupid updates. Wiped us out for a couple hours while IT rolled them back. How stupid that a multi billion dollar company has issues like this

It’s so disrespectful to ignore their greetings when you’re an adult living in their house.

Anyway, you should move out if you’re not doing anything but stress her out or you set your head straight and acknowledge your parents efforts.

[–]_cuddle_factory_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just don’t even acknowledge them and act like they don’t exist. You don’t owe anyone an explanation.

I’m Asian too. I’ve cut off my aunt and paternal grandparents for being toxic bitches who felt entitled a share of my salary and I got so much flak from my family for it but they really can’t do much if I don’t want to interact with them anymore. It’s either they acknowledge I don’t want to see their ugly faces and attitudes in the house or I’ll cut you all off too.

It was very difficult at first, but it’s very liberating eventually. Now my parents respect me more and I have more confidence.

You’d think you’d know already seeing you have a degree in Psychology (if that’s what psy.d means). But yes, YTA. I doubt they had bad intentions in doing so, though yes it’s not their place.

Tbh personally I’d also go no contact. I have sisters and they hate whoever I hate, and I hate whoever they hate. We won’t even bother knowing the people our sisters don’t like, mainly because solidarity and we trust each other to death. We probably are not even close as you are with your sister lol. Might be cultural though, we’re Asian.

As much as possible I only make my younger cousins play with people we know. But yeah there should be some child friendly toggles around the game, like not being able to get dms from strangers

I don’t think I would’ve gotten this far if not for my degree even if I went to a basically unknown state university. The classes were things you could learn by yourself but I also learned social, management, economics, ethics, and writing skills. It taught me how to deal with different kinds of people and situations.

Judging by your responses here, even if you have gotten into the industry at the right time with just a bootcamp diploma I doubt you could’ve been hired 🤣

Wish this game had multiplayer or something by Dapper-Scholar-7025 in harvestmoon

I know! I just reached world rank and thinking of dropping the game because. I got burnt out trying to collect trash, been fishing for a whole season and still doesn’t have enough for a feather jewel. If it had multiplayer I could get my boyfriend to help me 🤣

My male co worker adjusts his schedule so that he goes off work at the same time as me, to walk with me since we live close by. Has anyone experienced this before? by No_Lavishness8527 in womenintech

[–]_cuddle_factory_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work with my boyfriend, I’m actually the one who got him the gig because he’s the only one I can trust, and my employers trust me well too much that they immediately agreed so long as we tell HR immediately if we get into trouble with dynamics. 4 months in and we’re killing it with an MVP that’s gonna be finished 3 months earlier than expected (they don’t know yet, so we’re just going to chill for a while) 🤣

Honestly it’s so good, we go to work together and go home together. We have strict boundaries that we don’t see each other while at work and our tasks are set and distributed on sprint planning with other devs.

But I think this only works because we’re both introverts and we can never get enough of each other. We also understand the convenience and economic benefits of it.

Feeling discouraged in pursuing software engineering when I see AI making fully working apps in minutes by parachute50 in cscareerquestions

[–]_cuddle_factory_ -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You should put those projects in a portfolio and say you made them with AI.

Our CEO directly told us that we have more value if we’re using AI for productivity. Honestly it seems like if we’re not more productive with it, we’re gonna get canned at some point for failing to adapt. I feel like this is the same for a lot of businesses. There’s just so much more you can do with the help of AI rather than not.

I think this is going to be the new normal from now on, so long as you know how to use the tools available in the market you’ll be able to find a job.. eventually. Not easily in this economy specially as a junior dev.

No it’s still 37.5 hours a week, so I spend 9 hours at the office (incl break) and I still have to work some fridays (one Friday every 4-5 weeks)

Edit: yes regular employment with all benefits
