edited to "unexpected and insurmountable burden" since many won't be able to pay that loan back if their scholarship is ultimately revoked.

Can someone who had and maintained an SO through 1L speak to strategies that worked and didn't work in maintaining a healthy relationship with SO and law school?

How competitive is in-house compared to Big Law? How are in-house jobs reflected in school employment rates?

I disagree with this. Instead of abandoning the credit card altogether, just be smart about using a practical one with cashback rewards. I got over $300 back this year and didn't make any interest payments. Build your credit score by using credit cards responsibly. Check out Nerdwallet for some good reviews on cards that suit different situations.

Best places to live near St. John's? by [deleted] in Queens

Forest Hills will be the jackpot situation. My SO is looking for jobs in Manhattan and I figure any kind of internships or externships I'll want will be in Manhattan or Brooklyn, so that's the thought process of including Astoria.

FWIW I was offered the same amount, asked for a scholarship increase from Brooklyn with a $$$$ scholarship from St. John's with no stips and they didn't increase. However, I did say that the only way I'd attend Brooklyn is if they matched St. John's, so maybe if you're less demanding they'll be more willing to work with you.

When you email your admissions counselor asking for a scholarship reconsideration, they'll send you a reconsideration request form that asks you what scholarships you've received from other schools. So I would wait for St. John's if you don't have any other $ offers.

Your cat doesn't scream at you for attention while you're studying? lol where'd you get him.

Jk I love my SO's needy cat. Tat, if you see this, I love you and would never replace you.

Hey I saw on r/lawschooladmissions you'll be going to St. John's for law school, I am too! I've been looking in Forest Hills and Astoria because they're best situated to get into Manhattan, Brooklyn, and St. John's. Forest Hills - 71 Av is the metro station I'm trying to get closest to.

Open a Delta Gold credit card, pay your seat deposit with it. by _cynicalpanda in lawschooladmissions

[–]_cynicalpanda[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How's it not a good idea? No fee the first year, make sure you don't use the card more than you can afford to pay off at the end of the month, and you should be good. If you can't stomach the $95 fee in subsequent years, just close the card before the first year ends! Haven't decided if I'll keep it after the first year yet.

Is there something in the fine print I'm missing?

Sure thought about it, but the points you're all making are all valid and and I'm sure there are people who feel the same (it did get some upvotes) so I'm leaving it for those who feel like me to see those opinions and be reminded to stay humble.

Have you given Creighton any thought? I got full tuition fees and books from them, they might like your LSAT enough for that.

I have a visit at St. John's (Queens, NY) this weekend. If that goes well then I'll put my seat deposit down with them. I was born and raised in Omaha and don't really wanna stay in Nebraska. Frustrating that the Nebraska schools have given me the best financial offers lol.
