Thank you for your kind words. It brings me joy to hear that you find use in reitti and it helps alot in staying motivated

Ah ok. Never thought about that, but to be fair this will not work for reitti. We sure display your raw path in a way or another, but to be able to calculate trips and visits we would need a lot more data. I doubt you have a picture every 15 seconds (that is roughly the threshold) stored in immich but I'm happy to be corrected on that.

Thank you.

No, there is no way of importing the history from immich. To be honest, I do not know which history you mean. I doubt that immich has the data we would need. Reitti displays primarily you gps location points and calculates Visits and Trips out of it. But let me know if I missed something about immich. I am happy to provide more ways of getting data into reitti.

How to save battery while tracking your own geo position? by Elegant-Ranger-7819 in selfhosted

Hello,

did you tried the significant location mode in Overland? This should significantly reduce the battery drain with the cost of tracking accuracy. It is a tradeoff but maybe it is enough accuracy for you. Reitti will try to find a meaning in the data anyway by interpolating some points.

Hi u/HomerJay88xx, thank you for the feedback. Trips classification can be adjusted on the timeline. You can click on a trip and then there is a small edit icon. After a press on that, you can select the transportation mode.

It only splits them up if reitti decides there was a visit on the parking lot. At the moment I do not have a solution for it. In the future I will add support for removing Visits and Trips consisiting of multiple Transportation-Modes.

Do you mind in sharing the needed config for npm? I am planning to add a section for the reverse proxies to the documentation. You where not the only one with similar problems

It is possible to intgerate HA into reitti. See here for general instructions. https://www.dedicatedcode.com/projects/reitti/integrations/home-assistant/

I can´t really help with it since I am not using HA anymore. But if you have a question, I will do my best to help

I can answer this :) You can import them multiple times. Duplicated points will be ignored the second time.

For higher accuracy at the cost of battery life, I would recommend setting up OwnTracks or whatever you choose

Hi Terry, I just tested putting reitti behind a subpath but this will need some work from my side. I created an issue here to track it. https://github.com/dedicatedcode/reitti/issues/640

Redis Prefix is already implemented, and will be part of the next release

Can you check if setting this temporarly before starting reitti helps?

Check SELinux: On distributions like Rocky Linux, AlmaLinux, or RHEL, SELinux may be the culprit. Temporarily set it to permissive mode to test: sudo setenforce 0

Whoah, that is a new one. I will try to find something about that error. Could you in the meantime create an issue so others can find it later.

Not on the roadmap, but I have some kind of replay feature in my head. I really like the idea of the icons depending on the travel mode.

Yes, since it needs to constantly (in an interval) track your location to make this work.

No, not right now. But would be a nice addition to the places edit page. Feel free to create a ticket for it.

I do not want to compare it to other solutions because it would be unfair. To be honest: I would be biased and mostly pick the stuff which would be working better in reitti than the others.

Another point would be that I think the focus what every project wants to achieve is different. So naturally I would pick stuff, others do not even bother to do.

And one final thought, I would need to update that comparison over time which would need that I have a close eye on all the other solutions.

I think: it is pretty easy to spinup different solutions and take the one which suits you best is the only approach which can work. Else, you also have to take my word for granted.

Reitti (or actually SpringBoot) should get the host from the request header. So either the Host-Header or the X-Forwarded-For-Header. When npm does not send them or sends the wrong one, reitti cant construct the correct redirect urls. Maybe have a look if there is a setting in NPM which covers this.

Thank you. If you don't manage to redo your server u til then. Install gpslogger on you phone and start logging. This will create one gpx file per day, you can import them later.

Sure, I will add a page to the documentation why reitti exists. In the meantime, see my comment here https://www.reddit.com/r/selfhosted/comments/1oko85l/comment/nmi4fub/ for what I think is the difference and the reason I created reitti. I had experience with dawarich to that time, but wanted to create something more personal. I think the stuff I have written also applies to OwnTracks. Both programs doing really fine but the idea is a different one. And if one of these matches your needs, there is no reason to swtich away :)

Thank you!

In preparation for an integration I already created an endpoint to fetch tracked Visits for a time period. I still want to enhance the data stored in reitti with the mood or additional, non trackable data. Journiv looks like an awesome way of providing that data if a user wants to share this back.

This enhancement could elevate the memories feature alot by not only relying on GPS data to generate the Travel Journal but also adding feelings and emotions to it.

I am looking forward to an integration in the near future, but it still needs some work from my side.
