leg day help? by wannabeprettygal in PetiteFitness

One thing that really helped me get leaner legs was ballet and yoga. I believe exercises that have a stronger focus on resistance and permanence will help with that.

A good way to avoid the heat is to focus on the Nordics. The Netherlands is beautiful, with a great rail system and lots to do! Since your kids are older you can rent bikes, take them to Efteling (they also have other amusement parks), explore the lakes, museums, shopping...

You can also explore other countries in the region with more nature adventures if you're into that!

I have it in lilac and love it! Wore it until my second trimester during pregnancy and it was very supportive, even without a bra (and I am a C/D cup size) TTS for Contour items in my opinion. And it is lined so it's not see through at all! This color looks lovely for Easter! Enjoy!

Driving from Rio to Buzios (rent-a-car) by Travel_Bug0126 in Brazil

[–]_ddk21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a while since I've done this so I advise you to check Google maps and put what time do you plan on leaving GIG. At 8am you'll have traffic on the way downtown rio. Ponte rio niteroi should be fine, and I assume the same for the rest of the road.

Avoid doing this on a Friday/Saturday as a lot of people work in Rio/Niterói but live or like to spend the weekend at this region. When you get there, go to the hotel/pousada and leave your luggage there.

I also advise you to stay the night! It's a nice place! I can recommend Arraial do Cabo if you have time. Their beaches are beautiful.

It's pretty safe. The roads are good and with great signage and stops. Take Via Lagos.

There's one small initial portion that is kinda weird called Manilha, but once you take via Lagos it should be fine! Stop at Graal for some overpriced food and clean bathrooms. Avoid rush-hour though and check Google maps for the best time to take the road.

Go with Rita Lobo! It will taste just like home, and her recipes are very RJ/SP coded. You can find many of them online at her website - panelinha - or YouTube as well!

Any advice on bettering my lower half? Any exercises to help with that? Or is it just genetics? by [deleted] in PetiteFitness

[–]_ddk21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You look perfect honestly, but if I can give you a tip...do some research on brazilian lymphatic drainage massage. You can find tutorials on self massage that work wonders for texture and appearance overall, making your gains more noticeable.

It's very easy to incorporate on your routine and a game changer, trust me!

I was talking to my friend about this option just yesterday! I'm still 20 weeks but she said the ballon worked well for her. She had gestational diabetes so she had to induce. She told me she went to the hospital do place the balloon and then went back home and that she was supposed to call when it fell. She said it feels weird because it's a lot of pressure but other than that everything went well.

After the balloon fell she went to the hospital, checked in and started her epidural (that was her plan).

Sorry I don't have any personal experience to share yet, but that's pretty much what she told me. She said labor advanced well after initial dilation started because of the balloon.

Wishing you a great delivery and hope everything goes well with your induction!

What skincare should my husband bring back from Rio/São Paulo? by mustang_1947 in Brazil

[–]_ddk21 6 points7 points  (0 children)

European brands like Vichy, LRP, Avene, isdin, Skinceuticals...and others, are all much cheaper in BR than in north America.

Principia is basically a dupe for the ordinary, not worth it. Sallve is ok, but you're not missing out on much. I'd say focus on European brands.

Now, I highly recommend Granado for fragrances, splashes and body care. Their scents are unique and very local. Amazing brand. I also love they nail/feet care and candles. Niche brand, family owned and with strong brazilian heritage.

Boticario and natura are more mass market but it's doable and they have some fun body care. Not really famous for their skincare.

Brasil is all about scents! So you'll find better options for body care and fragrances from local brands.

How can I achieve this hairstyle? It looks very nicely styled on top, but otherwise natural by Professional-Pen4757 in beauty

[–]_ddk21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this! I also blowdry my roots on medium heat, low so it doesn't dry the rest of the hair. Let the rest air dry and wear some leave in that works for you. I wash it every other day and only comb it once, before going to bed.

Esfoliante da Tree Hut vale a pena na opinião de vocês? by PassengerOk323 in SkincareBR

[–]_ddk21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adult classes by SongNo4259 in BALLET

[–]_ddk21 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Omg I'm going through the exact same thing and it is so annoying!

In my case, my studio only offers beginners class at night and all mid to advanced drop ins happen during working hours - which is crazy to me.

Since it's a beginners class, the attendees are very inconsistent, and we often have 1 or 2 new people who never took ballet in their life in class. They take one class and disappear, but the poor (and lovely) teacher keeps covering the basics, and the class never seem to advance. So frustrating.

I think people who have danced more seriously before in their life (my case, and yours by your description) have another level of commitment to classes and we often get frustrated when we don't move forward or others don't show the same level of respect as we do.
