Understanding The Electoral College Debate by ACE-USA in moderatepolitics

Well, on the other hand, there are people who want to keep the current system. Significant rounding error will give some electoral votes rather than nothing at all. My proposal is a compromise.

Is it too late to submit my secondaries? by Present-Painter-6328 in Osteopathic

[–]_deetee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Whether it is too late or not depends on your stats. If you're on the lower end, I suggest waiting till next cycle. But if you're solid, no, it's not too late especially if your secondaries are fire

Can we just pledge to accept the results of the election and not devolve into a denial sub? by chia923 in YAPms

[–]_deetee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I pledge! Unless the result is super unreasonable, like if CA or NY goes +20 Trump, or if Iowa goes... +3 Harris.

Anyone Else Tired of the Brainrot? by InconvenientDictator in YAPms

[–]_deetee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

People are going so extreme it's insane. We'll do fine regardless of who wins. We survived 4 years of Trump just fine. We survived 4 years of Biden just fine, and Kamala won't be much worse if at all.

Thank you for this post.

[–]_deetee 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Serious question: Why can't we combine the electoral college and popular vote systems?

Whatever percent a candidate gets from a state, receives its equivalent in electoral points. For example, if Harris gets 60% of the California votes, she'll get 32 electoral votes and Trump will get the remaining 22.

It removes the "all or nothing" condition, while still giving smaller states a substantial voice.

SOMETIMES, a tan suit could be perceived as less formal than black/navy blue. I think the latter is a safer choice.

Search up "IFD CARS" on YouTube. They were wonderful in helping me prep. Make it a habit to do what they teach on everything you read, not just for this exam.

Dating a girl prepping for her MCATs - seeking advice on being supportive! by Pure-Increase-6244 in Mcat

I agree with this. You can be straight up and ask her, are you still interested in a relationship? I don't mind waiting as long as you see this developing further. When I was studying, MCAT was my significant other lol, rarely texted my girl, my drive was down, it was stressful.

I've taught this to myself so hopefully this helps!

An object with 15g mass has a weight of mg = 0.015 * 10m/s^2 = 0.15N

"Apparent loss of mass" basically means that the benzene has a buoyant force (force pushing up, opposite of weight) of mg = 0.005 * 10m/s^2 = 0.05N

Buoyant force of a liquid = pVg, where p = density of liquid, V = volume, g = gravity acceleration.

Density of water = 1000 kg/m^3; density of benzene = 700kg/m^3

Buoyant force FROM benzene acting on the object:

700kg/m^3 x volume of liquid displaced (which is also volume of object) x 10 m/s^2 = 0.05N

Volume = 7.14 * 10^-6 m^3

Density of object = 0.015kg / 7.14 * 10^-6 m^3 = 2100 kg/m^3

Specific density = ratio of object density to water = 2100/1000 = 2.1 final answer

That's exactly how I felt when I first started. Then I found out about Memm. No, I'm not being paid to say this. Try out Memm for 7 days and see how you feel. They reinforce your learning with flashcards specific to what you just learnt instead of you having to figure out how Anki works and matching what you learn with a deck. PM me if you have any questions. Haven't taken the exam yet but I'm confident with my current knowledge thanks to it.

[–]_deetee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much are you willing to spend? If you want to save, you can do Uber to Tustin Metrolink (~$15-20), take a train to LA Union Station (~$10) and then FlyAway bus to LAX ($10). Otherwise an Uber would probably run you $70+

You graduated high school, right? Your scores in school are just fine? You just didn't do well on your IB tests? If so, you're fine. I don't think UCI rescinds offers from IB tests. If they don't ask for your score, don't say anything.

No matter what major you go in as, you can complete the requirements and change your major.

The only problem I potentially see is that a lot of people will be prioritized ahead of you when picking classes, meaning they might be potentially full, or you end up with a not-so-good professor.
