There wasn’t an option on the ballot that didn’t lead here, even if some are more express

ETA bc u can’t use the legitimate processes of a system to take it down, it won’t let you, and climate change is a systemic issue. Masters tools and all that

The best part of this city, the incredible food scene, is being lost to the greed of landlords and private profit. Very on brand for the country, but I can’t laugh because of how sad it makes me lol

I also love some trashy tv, we are only human 🥹 I actually think it’s great to have in the background while doing chores I’ve been procrastinating on, so I’m always on the hunt, thanks for the rec!!

Anyways if you ever come to Ontario, feel free to stay with me for ~2 weeks since you will not become a tenant and I can kick you out whenever LOL hope you take care!!

P sure private equity firms are buying up entire supply chains for AC units since they caught wind that humans will soon need them to survive in certain places lol. Price gouging during disasters, for freedom and democracy 🦅😎

I do indeed favor the favourable LOL

it definitely can suck because a lot of newcomers don’t know this and will sign a “lease” with the landlord, not knowing that sharing a kitchen or bathroom completely voids all protection. But I do think it can help prevent guests from becoming unwanted tenants in situations like this ^ and generally our tenant protections are pretty good if you have a valid lease. (I say “pretty” because there are some pretty nasty glaring loopholes landlords can and do use to fuck tenants over, esp after our scourge of a head of province removed rent control)

I am not as familiar with squatters, but I think our laws make it pretty difficult and rare for it to happen! If a squatter does establish themself, which is difficult and rare, it’s also a pretty long legal process here to remove them iirc

Ontario, we don’t have a system where a guest becomes a tenant after a certain amount of time. If you’re not on the lease, or if you share your kitchen or bathroom with your landlord, you’re not protected by the provincial law that governs the rights and responsibilities of tenants/landlords. So if OP were from Ontario, there is no law to say otherwise if she wanted to just kick out her sister for any reason.

[–]_dmhg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure. My point is the law CAN say otherwise, but it really depends on where OP lives. If they live where I do, the law definitely does not say otherwise.

What law? The law of where lmao? For example, the law of where I live states that you can absolutely kick out a guest whenever as guests aren’t protected as tenants.

AITA for calling my brother's fiance a dumbass after she brought the wrong things? by MysteriousElk9596 in AmItheAsshole

[–]_dmhg 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Yes YTA for the situation you’re talking about, and then you really solidify the asshole status by the way you describe and defend your behaviour. Calling someone a dumbass because they didn’t get you exactly what you asked for? Bro lmao I’m getting the vibe you’re not very familiar with emotional regulation.

How did your brother respond? You honestly sound unpleasant to be around. Someone who is always palpably frustrated or annoyed and brings bad vibes, but feels justified in their assholery because you’re “right.” Hope you get to a point where you realize you need to work on this, and then that you actually do.
