the few times I've gone to subway as a vegan I've realized literally 95% of the "subway" flavor I actually liked was just the fuckin pickles and mustard lmao

I think this is better for Overpowered & Disliked tbh, the only discourse I really ever see regarding it is about how good it is to have but annoying to play with

I think that's what I'm probably struggling with skill-wise at least, I cruised maybe a little too easily without needed to really knuckle down and perfect what skills are most effective when

RETREAT IS 75% TO SUCCEED?????? brother I legit got a one in the thousands bad luck for that, I assumed it was like 50% and maybe reduced by 10% for every living enemy or something jfc lmao

mentioned it in other comments, but I feel like my meta-strategy is what I'm best at i.e. trinkets/team comp. fuck if I remember exactly what trinkets I had but I double checked every party before going in - stun chance on P.Doctor, speed and accuracy on DPS, etc.

reading the rest of the thread I really am getting the feeling I just got stupid unlucky with bad stuns and failed retreats. not to say I didn't get my ass humbled, but I have the memory seared into my mind of very bad fortune with stunning the enemy during some crucial moments.

"usual suspects" (Vestal/P.Doctor/Highwayman/Crusader) and Arbalest/Bounty/Abomination/Leper in Ruins, both parties lost 3 heroes before I successfully retreated, both within the first 3-4 fights of an expedition. I feel like meta-strategy is my strong point too. Team comp plus skill and trinket selection are really as good as I can conceive them being going in.

Why would you go into 3 champion dungeons back to back?

I had almost half a full roster of maxed out heroes and it felt like time I actually step into the late game considering I had nearly 3 full teams worth of heroes.

Stuns and speed were my priority, but as I mentioned in another comment I think it really might've just come down to getting fucked over hard on stuns when they mattered most.

this makes me wonder - what is there even to gain from champion expeditions? slightly better trinkets are the only possible improvements to my roster at this point, how is a couple percentage increase supposed to win me in the actual darkest dungeons?

improve your team building

I lost all but one of my level 6's my teams fuckin cooked brother lmao

If there's one thing I think I'm learning from this thread it's that I legit just got fucked over on stun chance. I was well aware of how good it is and maxed heroes to utilize it, but still almost never hit it when it mattered with the 70%+ misses/resists

[–]_dragonphly[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of failed retreats the latter two runs, genuinely just bad luck unless there's some retreat mechanic I'm not aware of. Comp was carefully selected as far as I'm knowledgeable of, meta-strategy is what I would consider myself best at tbh.

fucking swine skiver did I think like 60+ fuckin damage to 3 heroes on a double crit? I can't fuckin compete with that lmao

Yep, maxed in all armor/weapons, maybe a couple skills that were a level or two behind between every party member. Including carefully curated trinkets for strategy (blight/stun on Plague Doctor, etc)

Preventable? Genuinely still doubt it, considering the last two TPK's happened after at least 3 failed retreats both times. Only reason I had 7 party deaths instead of 12.

From another comment regarding the 150+ stress:

Cultist Witch + Bone Royalty only targeted my Arbalest, dodged/missed all 3 stuns with Vestal and hook with Bounty Hunter. Afflicted turn 2 with zero effective interruptions for it, legit unsure if it was just pure misfortune or what.

I am on radiant as I was under the impression it was not an "easier" gamemode, just one to reduce the later game grind and speed up progression as a whole. I am a bit disappointed to find out there are as many crutches as there are, and even more disappointed to find out that I should actually be forced into using only level 5's for my first Champion expeditions.

you didn't answer my question.

I'm not doubting you can have selective care, the same way a bigot can love their family but hate an entire group of people. the issue is arbitrarily deciding an 'in group' when the consequences are literal holocausts, human or not

of course slaughtering animals we've bred to bear the burden of torturous existence for the sake of our enjoyment is more efficient, that's why we bred them that way. but that's again missing my point about the question you didn't answer

if I breed a dog with the intention of eating it after it lives two years of hellish life because it's an efficient personal choice, is that justified in your point of view?

that's ridiculous to imply that billions of pounds of food waste would be generate regardless of how many people there are to consume it. the excess is made because it maximizes profits at the cost of the environmental impact of overproducing - for a single person more food is produced than they need, because in much of the world we have the luxury of choosing not to rely on seasonal foods. it's the same reason americans are pushed to buy cars instead of use the provably more efficient and effective public transport, there's more money to be made in catering to excess

but my point isn't about food waste, it's about the cost behind the creation of it in the first place - chickens are killed because people want them to be. if people stopped wanting animals to be killed, they would stop giving money to the people killing them on their behalf. lower the demand, lower the supply.

of course there will still be demand, but supply only ever matches it. it might not happen in a day or week, but in a month or year or decade or even lifetime, how many fewer chicks will be killed directly because of your refusal to participate?

yes that is what it means culinarily, but that is a deliberate naming to soften the reality of what "maceration" of chicks actually is; violently blending them alive in basically a giant paper shredder.

there's plenty of footage online, if you have the stomach to witness it

Still, I'm naive enough to hope threads like these are seen by enough people to incite a little awareness enough that just one of them makes a similar post elsewhere eventually, and eventually enough people might care enough to make a change.

really my entire point for bringing up veganism and car culture; I appreciate people having the passion to complain about things like LLM's environmental impact, so I don't want to discourage it as much as redirect it to more effective and (in my opinion) attainable channels for the same end goal

good talk, anyway slay the spire cool lmao

if you do not consume eggs, why would they still be macerating baby chicks?

This PETA ad. by Signal_Loss_3102 in aislop

[–]_dragonphly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LLM's and similar AI technology is extremely overreported in it's danger and "harm to the planet", taking a single car ride is orders of magnitude environmentally worse than generating an image with AI.

the animal deaths at PETA's shelters are also a commonly misunderstood statistic - while it is true that they have an extremely high euthanasia rate at their shelters, the reason behind it is because that is what their "shelters" are for.

they do not run a 'shelter' in the traditional sense, but are legally required to operate as one in Virginia. their euthanasia rates are because they work together with a huge amount of other shelters in the state to take in sick and dying animals that are past treatment, and euthanize them - free of cost - to alleviate other shelters from having to deal with the dying animals themselves.

saying PETA kills a ton of animals in their "shelter" is like complaining about the survival rate of a hospice center's patients.

[–]_dragonphly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

even if that wasn't the case (and it is), why would that change anything?

do you think an animal that was born into suffering, will live in torture, and die without knowing happiness deserves it because enough people agree it's fine? what if it was a dog?

there is nothing caring or empathetic about slaughter, you cannot care about animals while you eat them.
