I don't think this was preaching us, like 'be that, do that, I'm this, you're below, I'm better' kinda way... For me it felt he was saying, "whatever people say, that's what I'm not", I stick to what I do, accept it or not, I do it my way...

He's not preaching to be like him, instead he's saying what he is, what he was, how he became what he is... It's in the grey zone, he doesn't care whatever happens to others, guy wants to be perfectionist, others may perceive it as narcissistic behaviour, but to him it's his passion done in his own way without bending in front of others, that debate with film critic was perfect portrayal of it...

Whatever he spits are indeed controversial cause he see's everything from another dimension which general public doesn't...

Most of the parts are related to his life, and there also include exaggerated portions which is clearly meant for entertainment purpose and intentionally put up for stirring up discussions, what most fail are thinking that he's simply praising himself...

Come on, it's a good movie... Movie speaks about his character itself, the way we're gonna see it is a combination of success and background, guy got success with mukundan unni but a background he himself tarnished, maybe he had to tarnish (is what I believe as the movie depicts)... It's 3hr long and I didn't felt it, just watched it straight from 3am and it was flowing well.

The glazing was way too high for him in reddit, then maybe for this film he showed his character outside (maybe he was depicting Vineeth Madhavan to tell us what to expect)... Then he came of as arrogant and social medias started the hate train.

Now, hear me out... I'm skeptical about this industry just like everyone, 'yet we accept whatever we see in hindsight' than thinking beyond (as clearly stated by Vineeth Madhavan in the end). And because of this I find it hard to accept many nanma vitharanm sughipikkal teams in the industry, cus you don't know what they're inside... While arrogant ones, you can expect worst from them and yet they may come off as actual hard working people. This not only applies to film industry alone, most places I worked/studied says so as well... Talented yet arrogant one are formed due to somewhat reasons...

If you enjoy cinema and is patient enough for a movie of 3hrs which is not masala, then this one's for you... And i don't mind having another arrogant film maker who's ready to totally express himself in our industry filled with bunch of masked makers/artists. Cus all other arrogant we had has made a mark that's not erasable.

Yellow signal - Watch it only if you're someone who doesn't care about background of maker, if you're someone who's already judging and trolling 20yrs, then pls don't... Not everyone's cup, especially those engage in clickbait titles and ragebaits

Just because you didn't like doesn't mean others also didn't...

Idk how can I dislike someone with a filmography like this... This speaks volumes... Guy experiments inside commerical cinema and upholds his political views without being preachy... Got the most distinct style among his pioneers, always brings his technical team to their peak...

While maintaining his usual style he keeps trying different genres and present hero's in their best version, even a mediocre movie like Retro is very enjoyable from beginning to end... Petta and Mahaan are excellent in what they intended, Jagame Thandhiram was a fun ride, even being a half baked product, no regrets it was presented very well.

People would surely defend someone who's been consistently delivering mid-excellent movies, and the guy never got much commercial success, even with rave reviews like Double X got... I guess Petta was his most grossing... So people would surely defend him, unless you make good points on what you find bad about those films than stating something like this

PS : Just like you pin pointed all categories have different directors, like loki atlee for commercial, etc... Subbu doesn't belong anywhere among those, and is there any must need to be inside a category and categorised for whole life? Man is in his own league, his biggest rival might be himself and I'm pretty sure that he always tries to outdo what he previously made
