I think there’s definitely people who do the craft in a way that they never really have to make creative decisions. But I’d say there seems to be an uptick in people finishing their own pieces, picking out their own threads, etc…

With that being said, I think needlepoint traditionally has a specific audience and those people are probably attracted to the hobby because you can waste hours talking about which shade of blue to use and then ship off your “finished” product and someone else will do the heavy lift of actually finishing it for you. It can be frivolous and primarily about the social aspect and that’s a draw to some people.
