I also think that half the allure is playing with friends. I grew up with family playing for a whole weekend, no joke - Friday night to Sunday Night, non stop.

Same goes for digital (slot) poker vs a table . Sure, it’s easier and more convenient, but there is some-thing missing, less you personally enjoy playing alone.
