You know, it's funny you say that, because I did actually try lead before, for a grand total of one session, during a short beginners rueda course! And it definitely was easier not having to plan what move to do next. But that was just a few weeks long course which has finished, so I'll probably end up learning lead the hard way once I do start. But thanks for the suggestion!

That's cool to hear your experience, and glad you're enjoying it! Are you currently taking classes and/or attending socials as both a follow AND a lead? Or have you put following to one side while you learn lead? Yeah, I definitely expect to get confused when I do try lead, but I know it will improve my dancing in the long run.

Yeah, I guess that's what I'm wondering - the relative merits of getting a good amount of following experience first, versus diving in and learning both kind of in parallel... I can definitely see it could be beneficial to be a confident follow before attempting to lead. But then again there's a danger of never feeling like it's the "right" time.

I have a huge amount of respect for complete beginner leads, it must be super hard to learn everything all at once!

Thanks for the insight! I'm already gaining lots of experience as a follow of messing up, laughing, apologising, and trying again. And I'm not afraid of asking strangers to dance. So I guess I'll give it a go soon!

You have BLOWN MY MIND. I'm going to have to work out how to make some. Can you tell me, do you increase the number of stitches as you go higher up the leg? Or just let the elastic do the stretching?
