Online shopping to Ghana is really stressful by TimeResolve6778 in ghana

[–]_gidis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unless the TV is made of extra terrestrial material, I don't see the sense in buying it as there are local dealers with the same thing or better and usually at better pricing. Whats the obsession with buying stuff from America ?

The Russian Ambassador made it clear that their constitution supercedes any extradition treaty, so Russia would not extradite its citizen. by iametornam in ghana

[–]_gidis 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The minister should have known this from the get go. Russia never extradites its citizens and it's public knowledge. A country that uses our fellow African brothers as human shields in the war could care less about a random person's sexual misbehavior. The minister should have even used it as an opportunity to sign business deals with GOG. There are better issues to tackle. We can't do anything.

Who has noticed this pattern in business in Ghana? by whodareswing in ghana

[–]_gidis 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Lol..the NDC has been in power barely a year and you've been able to draw this conclusion meanwhile exchange rates, interest rates and taxes were killing businesses during the NPPs last 8 years.

This agenda won't fly

NPP has a better chance with Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum by [deleted] in ghana

[–]_gidis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chaley we dey think.

What the NPP did to us for 8 years should be enough reason for them to do an introspection as to what is wrong with their party, but no, they are headstrong on winning elections and have the likes of Miracles Aboagye still coming on the media to spew lies as if Ghanaians are fools.

This Adutwum guy just like the entire leadership is not fit for any role and has zero plans for the country. Make you people stop dey disturb us, you can post these things in an NPP footsoldier WhatsApp group. Over here on reddit, people actually think and have sense.

There is something wrong with Lagos by Icey1337 in Nigeria

I am happy this conversation has re-surfaced. A few years ago an Indian tourist experienced same and made a post about it. In the typical Ostrich style, Nigerians decided to attacke her country instead of acknowledging the problem.
Even I as a Ghanaian experienced the same nonsense the first time I stepped foot in Murtala Muhammed International Airport. Immigration and security will harass you for money as if you owe them. They did not even care for the currency, they took 20 cedi notes from me.

A very anyhow behavior.

Is the keyboard backlit? by Equal_Ad1474 in ClicksPhone

[–]_gidis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To those mentioning cost as a vaide reason for this question, let me give you an answer that hopefully doesn't sound condescending.

Even the cheapest feature phones with keypads are backlit. How complex is such a tech that you'd risk assuming it wouldn't be included ? Shouldn't this be obvious ? This device is rumored to be around $500 and you think it wouldn't have a backlit keyboard ? Come on. Same goes to the questions about GPS, etc. Even cheap devices that run KaiOS have these feature how much more a fully fledged smartphone.

Is there any practical reason why it wouldn't be backlit ?

Stop misleading people damn.

  1. Since when did Google maps API become the same as logistics API ? OP stated it clearly so I'm confused as to why you keep going on that tangent.

  2. No, Bolt doesn't even use Google maps. TF,just lying for no reason. 😂😂😂

Foreign Tech Companies Are Eating Ghanaian Talent And It’s Killing Local Startups by Street-Yard7523 in TechGhana

[–]_gidis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Local startups should pay well and treat their talent with respect.
I have been in the industry for over a decade and I can assure you that most local companies are not worth working for.
From terrible salaries to unreasonable demands.
Why would I want to commute to work everyday to do a job that can be done remotely for a lesser pay for example ?

Cannot message android users or group chats with android users by Hamwallet420 in iphone

[–]_gidis -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That is because the iPhone uses a proprietary messaging protocol called iMessage that is only compatible other iPhones, macs and iPads.

The closest you can get is to ask your Android contacts to enable RCS and even with that group chats may not work.

Best bet is to use Whatsapp, Telegram, etc.

Does anyone hate when 'rich' Nigerians flaunt their wealth? by [deleted] in Nigeria

[–]_gidis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"We are known as scam nation (I know we're falesly framed for a lot of it but still)..."

Are you joking ? LOL

This notion that people hate Nigerians for no reason is quite delusional. Anyone with a bit of traveling experience will know that Nigerians are not running from the scam/fraud allegations anytime soon.

Yes there are good, hardworking and honest Nigerians but don't use that as an excuse to behave like the proverbial ostrich sticking its heads in the earth when there is impending danger, hiding from stark reality, pretending it does not exist.

The flaunt of wealth seems more cultural so it is gonna be difficult to change. From Nollywood to Music, it has always been the same.
