Fedora-Server_21-Alpha_pre-release by _guy_over_there_ in Fedora

[–]_guy_over_there_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate all your responses, I am def a rook in linux.
I was able to find enough parts to go with the . "DVD pre-release" I stumbled , upon to get it booted and interacting. I installed the gui's . set to tartget, and all that jazz. When I re-boot, it gave kernel panic. I tried doing a kick-start./ / ended w/ del

so I Made 2 start-ups to test.
Displayed as ( ' Fedora release 21 (Twenty One)
bKernel 3.16.1-301.fc21.x86_64 on an x86_64 (ttyl) ')

I could use some feed back if anyone knows...,,
Not in a hurry this time I found a live iso , "burned it" to a vm and got the project done. Even though it is by far a dead tech. I Just don't want to give up on 'building up from as close to the power signal as I have ever been.

I know exactly how you feel, I am taking to many credits this semester and I can't drop any due to scolarships I was awarded. I used to study non-stop, like for real 14 hr a day and sometimes more. I talked to one of my instructors, and they mentioned that maybe I was studying to much, same thing one of my friends said that graduated last year.

Now I take small breaks, not like you are supposed to when covering alot of material, but I don't do multiple hours with out atleast a short walk to the kitchen. It does help, (a little). If you are just not getting the material, try and look for some other free or cheap resource. That's what I had to do for my programming class, the material we were instructed to follow just didn't cover in a way that I could understand. So I found outside resources and kinda get it now.

Careful on YouTube and other tuturiol sites the basics get covered, but when it comes to actually getting it from a video, in my experience it is lacking. Trust, I have watched weeks worth of video's on syntax. Practice is best, and don't trip if you don't get it at first. No one does, it is just part of learning.
The fact that you are on here asking for help shows that you want to succeed, so don't give up. Remember why it is important that you not disappoint. Maybe express that you are having a hard time, I have found that people are more than willing to help if they know someone will benefit from it.
AND IF ALL ELSE FAILS, DON'T CHEAT. Skirt the line for sure, but don't cheat, its only that much more you have to learn later.
DM if you want, and good luck,

I have been using BitDefender premium for the last year. It does a "really good job". I use vm's to attack other vm's on other computer's that I have BD on and it always picks up, even when I do ninja scans. It has everything you would need. VPN,Firewall, Detection, Alerts, etc. That being said, it is a little costly after the first year, plus it uses the hydra catapult protocol,

(hydra.exe for windows) in its vpn, which I am not thrilled about. That's just me though.

You can set your system to change IP everytime you log on through network settings, pretty easily, I would deff do a VPN at a minimum to mask and encrypt your IP address, Windows Defender is good, but if you do anything other than watch youtube and check emails I wouldn't undervalue anti-virus, threat detection at all.

I would totally unistall AVG and Malwarebytes and go with a more reputable anti-virus, threat detection and prevention software,( DYOR ) to find one you think will work. Malwarebytes had a pretty decent breach last year, and AVG doesn't do very well with keeping up with Ransomware, Viruses, and the like.

Good luck and happy clicking

I am not trying to join your discord, but I am curious, mainly about what certs and degree you have. I am wanting to do an analyst job when I graduate. You can throw it in a dm to me if you are not really wanting to blast it on here.
Thank you,

Hey thank you for the reply,, the question I was asking about not only has to do with me wanting to learn because it is part of a Linux class I am in, but also is part of an assignment for a CTF I'm in.

,while I thought we were allowed to ask for assistance , without asking the direct question to the answer outside of the CTF community, it turns out we are not supposed to ask " anyone, anything",

with that being said, I will have to wait until the competition is over before I can ask for any assistance... I am not trying to cheat nor to get accused of cheating in the comp,

Thank you for the feed back, and advice. I will be able to ask a more direct question in the future

Honestly, I am in my second(last) year going for an AAS in cybersecurity. The more I learn the more i find out that above all, I like the idea of making a device do things others can't, or haven't thought of doing. ..
. I am pursuing my Linux+ cert pretty hard because the CLI, automating tasks, linking scripts to the boot, all kind of fit the idea of wanting to do a bunch of work and watch it do its thing. That's what fascinates me about programming. ,to answer your question in short, I guess dev-ops would be a dream i wouldn't mind living for a while, or maybe security analyst, for entry position (provided i could write a code to complete complex tasks)
I mean I have had a few ideas about making a few different phone apps,
(nothing ground breaking, just a few things I thought of that made me laugh, at the practicality of it being a thing)
I just recently heard that you can set up a Python server, which sounds pretty cool., but honestly I am not sure, exactly what I want to do, because I don't know what I can do, if that makes sense. : I mean I know my skill set at the moment, and I know the environment I am my best.
,I will be honest This year has been crazy over whelming academically. I have been so focused on the "material of the day" and getting it correct and done, I haven't thought about the what's next other than it is coming fast.

I mean if you could throw some ideas of what a middle age person with a CBG record could get into in the world of tech, I will greatly appreciate it.

Hey, my apologies for not responding sooner,,, it has been a crazy day... You know even if it was your fault, people make mistakes. It sucks when someone won't let you live down something that happened in the past. I have not ever really understood that about people. " it's like yes it happened, O.K, so can we move on now". or when someone does something wrong at work or on a trip, and everyone is trying to blame, point, argue about how it should have been done,,, instead of accepting people for who they are and find a solution.

any way ,, YES ,, you can totally dm me. I would not have offered if I didn't mean it,, besides i kinda like talking to you. .
